Yes I did a fascinating behind the scenes tour of Fed Square during Melbourne Open House weekend back in July. Got to walk across the roof which was awesome but also went through some of the air-con ducts and service corridors underneath it which run right along those foundations just above the rail lines - in places you could look through gaps to the trains.
I would think the area at Central is a lot wider but they could probably do all sorts of stuff with the flying junctions and connect right across if they really wanted to. Enormous scope. But I imagine it all comes at a cost of making rail maintenance harder and more expensive since you are effectively moving all that track into tunnel. |

You could build over the country platforms quite easily (the third road between the platforms can go) but heritage impact hard to manage. Building over Sydney Yard harder technically but I’m glad it’s allowed for - this would make more difference to connectivity and be more likely to be an attractive addition, not just a tower over the tracks |

Does any other city in the world build like that over their railways?

I think it's a great opportunity, but it needs to be well done to ensure some variety for a large scale development. Hudson Yards is actually pretty good. |

Personally I don't feel there is a need for as many country platforms as there are so it would be an opportunity to rationalise the whole thing. As I said I'm excited at the possibility that this planning will lock out the possibility of building a HSR terminus (2013 Study style). |

One could always build a HSR terminus underneath Belmore park with an entrance at ST |

Mum Shirl at 6.79 within 30m of where Nancy had its breakthrough
Slowed down today, so id expect they are prepping for a breakthrough early next week - presumably on a different day to MetroWest announcement The dot on Kathleen has started moving again.. at a guess they made a sneaky adjustment when it hit Blues Point as the dot stopped while the count progressed. Looks like under 100m to go, so last week in October at a guess |

How long will it take to retrieve Kathleen, bring it back to Barangaroo and restart it?
I presume that Wendy will have finished its run before then. |

From the mailing list:
Installation of two tower cranes - Barangaroo Station From Monday 28 October 2019, work will start to install two tower cranes at the Barangaroo Station site. One crane will be installed at the southern end of the site inside the station excavation area, while the other will be installed on the surface near the main site entrance. Both cranes will be about 90 metres above ground level and will be used to build the station structure, as well as retrieve the tunnel boring machines when they arrive at Barangaroo later this year. The cranes are expected to take about three weeks to install, weather and site conditions permitting, and will be in place for the duration of station structure works.

Was the plan to have the station that far to the north of Barrangaroo proper another way to provide transport links to the Pier(s) also? if not it should have been closer to the main buildings, say under the Wooden highrise structure...that would have been a nice touch.
