I don't believe it has ever been intended to make the entire SEQ network prepaid. It is just that go card (including some sort of limited life version to come out in the course of this year) will be the only ticketing method, which will require some sort of strategy to allow on-board sales.

Nope...it is actually intended to make the entire network pre-paid.

Not exactly, TL will probably be adopting disposable go cards. Whether or not you will be able to purchase these on board a bus or ferry is another matter.

Yeah, they stand out quite well. They've even painted the gutter in front of the bus stop in the cityglider blue and yellow stripes.

I used the stops at West End, City Hall, Cathedral, Fortitude Valley eastbound, Fortitude Valley westbound and Teneriffe. The only one which was kind of bad was the Cathedral stop. It had nothing other than the stand-up signs which every bus stop has.

5-6 = -1
5-6 = the hour when a lot of people are catching PT home after work. when I say a lot, I mean not a lot.
5-6 = bus route 506, 516, 526, 536, 546, 556, 566, 576, 586 or 596 showing a faulty display. However, I don't think Brisbane has any of these routes (one for the future I guess).

Why do the go card vending machines need to be so big? They're gigantic hulking beasts. And as a result, most busway and train stations only have one each, if any at all.

Nothing sucks more than being stuck behind some stupid old bitch at Garden City busway trying to figure out what she's doing, or being trapped behind some idiot on their phone while slowly eftposing their go card when a train is about to arrive.

They've got a lot of stuff inside. There's a PC, a safe, a ventilation unit, ticket printer, ticket paper rolls (which are massive) and the new ones also have to fit in a go card dispenser.

Don't you know that to save government money on electronics, and to also provide work for disadvantaged people each vending machine actually has a midget inside who handles all the ticket sales. You don't want to begrudge them room for a seat and some aircon I hope.

Actually, one thing which would be good with the CityGlider is if they put in the go card vending machines at some of the stops. Ones like Teneriffe, Fortitude Valley (that island stop in Ann Street), West End Ferry.

All of these stops should have TVMs. Actually, come to think of it, it would be quite easy to make the entire ferry system prepaid as well. A go card vending machine at each ferry stop. The ones at Teneriffe and West End will also be used by the cityglider.

Dunno; look at the ticket machines they have in Zurich, for instance. Much more compact. (Plus hey have ticket machines at on-street stops - even outer termini such as the one shown in the link.)

Sounds great. I'm keen to try them, do they expect crowds?

Its good to train electric train drivers to upgrade to the newer steam trains as part of the modernisation of Citytrain. I'd like to see them on the Gold Coast line, they can be just as fast as some modern trains, and could operate to both Coolangatta and Southport stations.

No Idea... I doubt it though, I think school holidays are over, so these will be just normal services.. how odd.
