I think Kampala can remain a commercial capital but other things should be shifted to a new city.

why move it? It's a waste of time and money. What will happen when the new capital becomes congested?

I think this guy is lucky. If he was in some parts of Nairobi, most of his belongings would have vanished.

I still fail to understand how this happened and why he is alone.

In Kampala and ug in general people beat up thieves and criminals . when a white man stole a phone in Kampala he was chased and beaten for it the phone was then returned to the shopkeeper .

I think they should move the capital and build a planned city to the north like Abuja.

Uganda has always been a country that was gd at creating boxers . most of our olympic medals originate in boxing now there is Sharif Bogere... 21 fights unbeaten.he is also a five 5 African boxing champion.

Tyson piles praises on pugilist Bogere

BARE KNUCKLES: Bogere (R) with legendary Tyson during a Golden Boy Promotions dinner in Las Vegas recently

Boxing great Mike ‘Iron’ Tyson has tipped Ugandan Sharif Bogere to become a world champion. “I have watched him four times in Vegas and he seems to posses the potential to go far,” Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight champion, told boxingscene.com.

“He’s got speed and agility with some pomp. He is very agile,” added Tyson, who became the youngest boxer to win the WBC title at 20. “He’s a very strong kid though he needs to get proper leverage on his punches and improve on footwork.”
Like Tyson, Bogere has had an impressive start to his professional career, winning all his 17 fights so far. 11 of these wins have been by knockout.

Yet, the Ugandan was only introduced to the professional ranks two years ago.
This was after he vanished in USA during the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championship in Chicago. His disappearance alongside other Ugandan boxers caused uproar in the country. Bogere went on a run for several months before settling in California.

But he has since turned tables with his undoubtable talent landing him a contract with Golden Boy Promotions last month. The promotions company is owned by another boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya. Bogere, 22, is now arguably the most feared pugilist in the lightweight division.

Lion head
This year, he has claimed two victories and was awarded the Outstanding Young Male Boxer of the Year award in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Ugandan has also made headlines with his splendor while entering the ring on fight nights.

He usually wears a lion head-like mask and brings a cage to the ring side.
And Tyson, the former WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion thinks such stunts make lots of sense.

“Such stunts give you a good base for pay-per-view negotiations and attract fans,” Tyson said about Bogere’s ring entrance.

IN SUMMARY

The win guarantees Bogere a shot at the WBO lightweight title or the junior welterweight some day in the summer.

KAMPALA

Ugandan lightweight boxer Sharif Bogere stopped Mexican Sergio Rivera after just three rounds at the Scottrade Center in Missouri, USA yesterday morning.

The non-title fight that had been scheduled for ten rounds saw the American-based Bogere stretch his knockout record to 14 in 22 undefeated professional fights.

Bogere proved too sharp, fast and active than Rivera who was coming off a three-fight losing streak though the latter never stopped trying.

Rivera faced a beating of his life that made him reconsider coming out of his corner for the fourth round and the fight was stopped. The win guarantees Bogere a shot at the WBO lightweight title or the junior welterweight some day in the summer.

Prior to Sunday, Bogere’s last competitive fight had been against Dominican Francesco Contreras, who just like Rivera suffered a third round knock that helped the Ugandan retain is his NABO lightweight belt.

If Bogere ever wins a world title he will be Uganda’s sixth world champion after John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi, Ayub Kalule, Cornelius ‘Boza’ Edwards, Kassim ‘The Dream’ Ouma and Jackson “Action” Asiku.

share the Ugandan page link on your facebook/twitter and urge people to join though in all honesty many Ugandans are not so big on architecture they might be more interested in the social and political threads
