This is a bad idea.

What happened to the GC.

Two years ago we were contemplating Zaha Hadid 101 storey towers on the GC and now the place has been reduced to whacky comedy renders.
"The place" being the Gold Coast Bulletin and their rendition.

no please don't build this it will ruin gold coast, i love gold coast the way it is, i don't mean to come across as racist but this is australia, why build a massive symbol of another country, that design is way too big a smaller one would be good but not that big.

That's not a render it's an over exaggeration.

It aint real render dude... its just a bad photoshop done by the media to ruffle a few feathers.

Sounds like it worked a charm.

Stupid render, just giving Nimbys an excuse to oppose.

I don't mind something like Luxor in Las Vegas though.
It's tacky, but GC is the perfect place for tacky buildings.

The Gold Coast should never build any Middle Eastern inspired buildings. Just as we shouldn't allow any Islamic schools. The Gold Coast should remain a city of beach culture albeit "tacky" according to some.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

How does Islamic architecture and education take away from the beach culture? There is some quite significant beach culture in parts of Indonesia and Malaysia.

To be fair, these "beach culture" areas are in the more non-Muslim areas....Bali, Kota Kinabalu etc.

Not to mention Turkey, Morrocco and Dubai.

Umm, isn't that a Hindu inspired building? What's that got to do with Islam? But I guess your points would still be made, however the ignorance here is a bit obvious

Maybe I missed something in the conversation...

What a building that would have been.

Dimethyltryptamine thinks india is the middle east, and as result he turned the conversation in regards to muslims
I'm aware that India isn't in the Middle East. TBH, I don't know why I referred to a Hindu building as Middle Eastern inspired, it was a mistake, but that was just what first came to mind without having read the caption on the render.

As for the Islam thing. I was talking about a school which is apparently a being fiercely debated on the Gold Coast at the moment, as to whether or not it should be built. Didn't have anything to do with the building, but more to do with the "When in Rome..."

I personally wouldn't like to be driving through the Gold Coast and have to see a building like that. Not that it's ugly, because in fact if it looks anything like that render (minus the height) it's actually quite good looking.

What's religious teachings got to do with skyscrapers between 100 and 149m's?

Can we stay on topic?

The posts will be deleted simply on the basis they are not really relevant.

Which it isnt! The Taj Mahal was built by a Muslim ruler as a burial place for his wife and has nothing to do with Hinduism.

Hindu architecture is interesting and could make a great tower.
