Glad that didn't happen! I love this group of buildings and everytime I'm there I get a little sad about the fate of that intersection's better half....

The historic retail district of Downtown is about the most active place in the city for development now. There are several projects on Howard street currently under construction, and at least 6 more in the pipe line.

The Superblock should have been kicked to the curb long ago. The small to midsized projects that have taken hold in that area will make a larger impact than the Superblock ever would have and will make the area unrecognizable in a few years.

Brown's 30 story tower (if it ever happens), the 16 story U of M Drover's bank project, Lexington Market rehab, Mayfair Theater apartments, skilled nursing facility in the old Bragar Gutman building, theater rehearsal space around the corner from the Town Theater, and the numerous historic buildings being rehabbed into apartments will totally transform the area.

I know, it's a real shame we aren't getting some brand new construction on this block, but saving these buildings and putting them to good use is just as great!

Does anyone know whatís sprung up at the corner of Maryland Ave and Trenton St? The comments on the below tweet talk about apartments but I donít remember seeing this project anywhere on this forum or elsewhere.

The Twitter comments seem to point towards a replacement of the burned out shell of the 3-story rowhome with apartments that go back pretty deep in the block, and no additional parking!

I would pass by this very site when I was taking the bus to work last fall. At that time, the foundation was being laid and I thought it was just an extension of the body shop. Iím pleasantly surprised to see what itís become but even more surprised itís never been discussed in the news or even on this forum!

Not sure if anybody has mentioned this yet but the Tru Hotel on Central Avenue in Little Italy is apparently under construction. Noticed it when on my way to work this morning. Hereís a link for those that donít know about the project -

Are you sure it isn't just the road work that is taking place on Central Avenue? Awesome news if you're correct though.
