Tenants picket QC mall to protest eviction

ABS-CBNnews.com
Posted at 12/28/2013 12:12 PM | Updated as of 12/28/2013 12:12 PM

MANILA – Tenants of the Manila Seedling Bank held a demonstration in front of a mall in Quezon City to protest their eviction.

Manila Seedling Garden Owners Association President Tess Selosa said Ayala Land is the buyer of the 7-hectare land where the Manila Seedling Bank is located.

The tenants are being evicted in preparation for the land development in the area.

The tenants showed up at 9 a.m. in front of the mall’s Mindanao Avenue entrance, which was shut closed immediately after the protest started.

The rally was also attended by ‘running priest’ Father Robert Reyes who frequently visits the Manila Seedling Bank.

Protesters said that more than 300 30-year old planted trees will be cut down should the land development continue. -with reports from Dexter Ganibe

do they really care for the trees or just for themselves? nung nagtayo sila ng mga 3rd world barong barong naisip ba nila ang environment? i evict na ang mga hipokritong yan

there are modern ways of transplanting trees tulad ng ginawa ng megaworld sa puno sa may newport city

Common station for mass railways to be bid out in first half

THE TRANSPORTATION agency looks to bid out the P1.4-billion Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) North Extension Project, otherwise known as the Common Station, in the first semester of next year, a government official said.
"For common station, the target is for us to bid it out in the first half and to award and start the construction in the second half," Michael Arthur C. Sagcal, Transportation department spokesperson, told BusinessWorld in a text message.

The common hub will link three mass railway systems in Metro Manila: LRT-1, Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and the proposed MRT-7. The deal was approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board last November.

Transportation Undersecretary Jose Perpetuo M. Lotilla said in an earlier interview that, before the year ends, the agency will release a directive on which mall at the intersection of North and Epifanio Delos Santos Avenues -- Ayala-owned TriNoma or Sy-owned SM North Annex -- will be the common station’s hub.

I hope the common station would be located with in or near trinoma mall, IMHO the most feasible location would be the existing open space parking lot of trinoma, it can be a common station provided the lot area of the parking space, it will add commercial space to ayala's trinoma mall. the ground level can still be parking spaces, 2nd level commercial, 3rd concourse area ticketing, main commuters access area, then 4th level would be the waiting area for the trains. One more thing, with the proposed Integrated Bus Terminal that will be located along mindanao ave, cor north avenue (vertis north area) i think trinoma is still the best and more efficient strategic location of a common station. Hoping they design the plan of the common station to accomodate future volume of passengers from bulacan area... (10 years to 20 years vision)
