No long headers for this one. Some of you guys already know how I feel about the two places. The purpose of this thread is to pay homage to the two pioneering skyscraper cities. The idea of versus is not intended and won't be tolerated. So if you love Chicago and New York and the architecture, skylines and classic North American urban atmosphere both have then come in and discuss, post pictures, ask us questions
If anyone has the link to the older NY and Chicago threads pass them along to me...maybe we can merge them.
So I've been working on a possible addition to this thread concerning photos single buildings for both cities through time. It would take up a lot of space on this thread...any oppositions?
Nah I kinda want to put it here as it does pertain to the topic of the thread. They're not historical photos. Most if not all of what I have collect were taken in recent years.
^^ no worries. I have a good stock of NYC shots I need to unload! My good friend moved there so I go at least one long weekend a year. going back in a few weeks, thinking about taking a helicopter ride while I'm there.
^^ Totally agree. I love this thread from page 1. I am still collecting some interesting photos of single buildings AND am trying to figure out a way to present them. I love NY and Chicago...two wonderful places.
I understand that there's a level of competition between New York City and Chicago, but there's one thing that I've come to consider as a great balancing factor.
Chicago itself is the birthplace of the skyscraper, one of the greatest innovations in modern human history. However, New York City plays host to the king of skyscrapers (by which I mean the Empire State Building). ESB may not be the tallest or biggest anymore, but it was revolutionary is so many ways, broke nearly all the records, and rose during the depression, becoming one of the most internationally known landmarks.
I love both skylines, both cities, and the diversity that they both offer.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
