I think they are no.1 or no.2 in attendance the past couple of years. Finally I assume the ballpark will go to no.3 behind Mets and Yankees in terms of cost.
I would put them just in that tier behind the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox in terms of a marquee club (I guess Cubs too but they just never win). The last Forbes valuation had the Angels at #10 in MLB at $775mm, the top 5 all privately own their stadiums. If the Angels went up for sale, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go for at least $1.5 billion with today sports franchise buying trends. They do have one of the best local TV contracts in all of sports.

Is a baseball stadium a "common" place for the monster trucks? A venue or setting like this looks like a lot of fun

Every year starting on the first weekend of January, it alternates every Saturday for 6 weekends between Supercross and Monster Trucks, and each event sells out or comes close. Supercross is very popular in parts of Southern California such as Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Petco Park and Chase Field are the only other baseball stadium used for Supercross, they use NFL stadiums for the other events.

Here's it in Supercross configuration.

Maybe Art should move in with the Chargers and Raiders up north.

He could then have the opportunity to have the greatest team name in the history of sport: The Mighty Carson Art players.

I'm fairly certain that NBCUniversal would want to have a little chat with him about that.

I've heard the Rams and Chargers are moving in with the Dodgers and the stadium will be named Dodger Ram Charger Stadium. But only if GM pays a billion or so.

Not really; I have been using that from way back when Guggenheim first bought the Dodgers and there was talk of a football stadium next door. It was not that far from being reality; might actually have happened if not for McCourt.

But getting back to Arte; he is legitimately going to look around given all the money in the air. But I would agree that Anaheim and the OC are far more likely than, say, DT LA or Carson. They are drawing second only to the Yankees in the AL and you don't want to mess with that unless you have a sure winner.

Arte really doesn't have much leverage with Anaheim. He isn't going to get any taxpayer dollars anywhere in So Cal to build a stadium (Tustin might give him a cheap lease on land but that's it). And if he does build a stadium elsewhere, Anaheim is sitting on what would be one of the most expensive pieces of real estate that size in the country, the appraisal last year for the entire property was $325 million.

Tend to agree. But they said the same about the 49ers, Warriors, Raiders, A's, Rams and Chargers. And by this time next year they may all have moved or announced moves!

Could development finally drive Angels from Anaheim?

With a Chinese investor pitching a $450-million development next to Angel Stadium and the Angels clearly not wanting to continue the status quo, the future of the team in Anaheim is once again in play.

LT Global Investment Inc. is pitching a 14-acre development next to the home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that would feature a 26-story hotel, a 28-story condo town, theater, indoor surfing park and restaurants. In theory, this would be the first part of a development that would see the area around the ballpark and Honda Center transformed into a high-density downtown area. Light rail now serves the area, and with the city targeting the so-called “Platinum Triangle” for future growth, the project is being seen favorably by some Anaheim officials, including Mayor Tom Tait.

And while LT Global Investment owns most of the land needed for the development, the Angels would need to give up additional parking to make this plan work. That’s not sitting well with Angels officials, who have pitched Anaheim on their own development plan, offering to renovate and upgrade Angel Stadium in exchange for development rights within the Platinum Triangle. Those talks stalled and the Angels turned to Tustin to begin negotiations for a new ballpark.

But all of these talks seem to have stalled, but they should be back: the team has an option to leave Angel Stadium between 2016 and 2019, and planning needs to begin now for a 2018 or 2019 ballpark opening. With a new negotiator for Anaheim coming on board, talks about the future of the Angels in Anaheim should begin — and one way or another the future of the franchise will be decided.

Oh, God no; not another stadium issue. Round up the usual suspects: AEG, Carson, Tustin, Industry, downtown....

San Antonio anyone?

Anaheim Stadium, the home of the California Angels. Probably one of the last stadiums where foul balls into the upper deck is a common occurrence.

Eh. Pretty much every game I've been to at Chase Field has had a couple of balls fly into the uppers too.

Nice. I went to Chase on Independence Day. Too bad my seats couldn't see the fireworks and the D-Backs lost.
