These skyline shots are great and all, but what I really wish for is someone who would post quality pictures of Milwaukee's nicer neighborhoods. Downtown pictures aren't enough to sell a man.

Careful.
Prospect's appeal and status are akin to the great residential avenues in New York facing Central Park (5th and C.P.W.), that is, beauty combined with a view , meaning: strictly residential.
Running parallel and a very short block away from Prospect is Farwell, the urban commercial avenue with (potentially) the vibrancy you seek; I think it's Farwell, though improving, that still falls short of what one might wish for in such a setting: maybe something along the lines of a larger Downer Ave. It seems like a tough location for new businesses to establish themselves, 'though some others hang on forever.

that's kind of what i was saying, too, about the layout of the housing was such that commercial use really wasn't in the plans, except an isolated place or 2. still nice to come up with some type of solution to add some street life to the entire area, especially with so much housing, the ease of biking and the walkability of the area. we certainly have some options and alternatives to this. exciting to think about.

These photos were not taken by me, but I thought they did a good job of representing some of Milwaukee. I will continue to post other neighborhood photos as I find other good ones...

If splat8's pics aren't enough, you need to visit Creamcityleo79's thread then. https://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1765829

This is a beautiful photo. The lighting and colors, the tranquil water in the foreground and the MAM in the middle, but the skyline looks empty. Then you see the crane rising in the middle of all of it and I'm reminded that in a couple of years a brand new shinning glass tower will be there taking it's place! Another white tower off to the left will probably be rising. What looks unimpressive now will soon enough be impressive and unique to the Midwest! I wish we could turn our clocks ahead...

New Photos of Milwaukee January 2015

Here are two new photos from Milwaukee My Home Town on Flickr.

The first one shows an iconic sign from the late 1960's when a car wash company called Penny-Wise operated on the site that is going to be the new Brady and Water Development. You can also see the cranes that are building the next phase of The North End as well as the Hilton Hotel and The Moderne in the background. Demolition is already underway on the site and I hope someone will save this sign.

The other photo is showing the transformation of North Avenue looking east from Oakland Avenue.
