Well, looks like someone may have been listening to you Tasmanian . This image certainly suggests that there is some form of cladding/architectural trim going on at the eastern end under the scaffolding. Maybe this ugly duckling will look a bit better once it is finally revealed.

I'd say you're correct O1.

I noticed some yesterday and today another rung of scaffolding has come down to reveal the new face of the building 😁

Nothing is going to save it from those acres of unclad concrete blocks already visible though!

Agree Tasmanian. Obviously, the coloured concrete has proved to be too patchy for a consistent finish. It should be painted like they did with the exposed concrete on the IBIS to cover up the mismatched panels but cant see that happening. But maybe once all the new trim/cladding is installed it wont look too bad.

Nice find. Should make an excellent entry.

Meanwhile, the scaffolding is coming down on the Southern side as well. Is it just me, or is the cladding bending up from the edges to meet in the middle and then bending back down towards the ends...its not a straight line that's for sure!

If anyone else was confused trying to find this, it's not 110 or 112A Liverpool St as you'd expect - it's 55-59 Murray St (PLN-19-280)!

Ah, well, that kind of makes sense as the whole complex incluidng, it is assumed the old buildings in Liverpool Street, are technically now part of the Icon Complex which has the 55-59 Murray Street at its principle address but its a bit weird all the same!

Another new tenant going into the ICON Centre in one of the vacant spaces.

Hoardings are up and work underway on the new store fit out. Its a slow burner this one but given the dire straits that bricks and mortart retail is in, its no suprise that filling this shopping centre up is a protracted affair for Kallis Properties.

Good to see though.

21 May 2020 opening: https://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hote...ho/hoteldetail

Complete with not-very-tasteful-looking demo room. I was hoping that that was just a stock photo, but then that’s a bottle of Musselroe Bay wine in the top right. Alas.
