Nani Blg. to be inaugurated in September

Nani building, a twenty-two-storey structure built by Huda Real Estate, a subsidiary of MIDROC Ethiopia, is to be inaugurated on September 11, according to reliable sources.
The project, owned by Sheik Mohammed al-Amoudi, was supposed to be completed several years ago, if all went according to the original plan.
The delay, coupled with some changes in specifications, has cost the company an additional 350 million birr plus, according to sources close to the project. The original cost of the building was projected at 340 million birr while over 700 million birr has been invested in the project, according to sources.
Nani building, along with other major projects, has been transferred to MEPO, MIDROC Ethiopia Project Office, after MIDROC Construction failed to complete most of the projects according to schedule.
Nani building has a total built up area of 24,000 sq. meters including a basement and a two-level parking lot for about 150 automobiles.
The building is located around Maskal Square, in front of Ghion Hotel.
It will have a supermarket on the first floor having an area of 2,300sq.m, which will be managed by Al Moqwaha, a Saudi Arabian company. The second floor will entertain stationery and home and office furniture mall to be managed by Hello, another Saudi Arabian company.
The fourth through sixteenth floors will be occupied by the MIDROC Corporate Office (MCO), comprising the head offices for MIDROC Ethiopia, MIDROC Technology Group and Derba MIDROC.
The building will sport three restaurants, one bar, a nightclub and private quarters for Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali al-Amoudi, the owner, according to sources.
The 17th to the 20th floors will be VIP floors. The 17th will have a conference room and the 18th will be the office of Sheikh Mohammed Hussein al-Amoudi and his brother Hussein al-Amoudi. The 19th floor will have a waiting lounge, bar and restaurant, while the 20th floor will have a guest house, fitness centre, and a nightclub, according to reports released earlier.
Construction of the building started in April 1998 on an area of 3,500sqm. Made to withstand earthquakes, it has seven elevators, one of which is dedicated for VIPs, with access to the top and a panoramic view with glass walls. Another one reaches to the 17th floor. Four are for public use, and reach only to the 16th floor, while one will be dedicated for materials transport.
