Some people have a hard time dealing with the fact that we get so much bad architecture. It's not like you designed the building or anything (is it?).

Here's what it's looking like this morning from the webcam, I don't know if it quite passes into the realm of nauhaikkuna but you tell me:

Dont be silly now.
I think you have a hard time dealing with the fact that we have different aesthetics. Get over it. If i dont like a certain project i'll state it once, and stop following the thread.
Posting random pictures from 70's buildings and sreaming Merihaka and Cirrus is such a tired old game, you're better than that.

Again, change the title of this thread, make yourself useful, mr Moderator.
(That is if your busy schedule of dissing Helsinki projects allows it.)

Yeah, so is calling people you don't agree with trolls.

But you're right. Why should we be discussing the state of contemporary Finnish architecture here? It's not like this is some architecture forum. From now on I'll be posting more smileys and superlatives (such as: "What a beautiful facade! Let's agree to agree!").

The planning of Nihti, southernmost part of Kalasatama is starting. Similar 6-storey closed blocks as in Sompasaari, but curiously there is no max limits on the tower parts of the blocks. Higher than 16fl you need to do the usual wind and shading and whatnot reports, that's all.http://kartta.hel.fi/applications/ha...ID=2017-009930
More of this sort of laissez faire city planning, thank you.

Looking good! I find it odd though that the blocks closest to the high-rise centre are the smallest ones.

Yeah, they went with the interesting decision of having those blocks be a mix of apartment buildings and townhouses. Maybe they wanted to test the concept of urban townhouses in Helsinki as soon as some land was available to build on.

Great pics, but I find myself hard pressed to like that. There are too many obvious planning blunders, but I have a feeling Sompasaari and the Tukkutori area will be more successful.

Also noticed they are now marketing the Portus development.

Looks slightly better now that it's progressing.. I like the color tone of those windows.. But they could be larger and I don't like those cross seams/mullions between every curtain wall section, they make it cheaper looking.

Advance marketing of REDI`s second residential tower to begin in April

"The 249 apartments in Loisto, which rises to a height of 124 metres above sea level, are located on floors 6-32, above the REDI shopping centre."

"Construction of Loisto is due to start in summer 2018."

REDI's front page had this picture. Shining just like the first tower under construction.

I am extremely worried about the cladding - imagine 8 towers looking like this. I really hope they change the cladding material as the construction of the cluster progresses.

The cladding is a bit similar to the Sky Gardens in London - the tower is similar in height as well.
