Lightbox | Media City | 19 fl | U/C

Cant find a thread for this so am starting one as it is now being marketed.

Lightbox is an exciting new scheme featuring 238 apartments
made up of one, two and three bed apartments which are now available to buy off plan.

The 19 storey building will boast breath-taking views over MediaCityUK, the waterfront, Coronation Street and Manchester’s skyline.

Internally, Lightbox will feature high-spec contemporary styled kitchens, bathrooms, appliances and flooring. This light, airy and sophisticated building will also include a full concierge service, car parking spaces to rent as well as bicycle storage facilities.

Completion of the scheme is anticipated for the first quarter 2019.

I'm intrigued by this literally only because of the fact that it looks like half a building.

Given some of the rendering false promises we've had in the area, I'd expect anything from half a building built to a collection of welded together Vauxhall Vivas making up a tower...

To be clear - Lightbox is the building on the left only. The pics above are a bit misleading!!

Are you referring to the roof?

Hardly a decent finish to a building. It just finishes. No crown on it at all.

Yeah, I'd expect a light strip around the top to match the other towers!

Looks a bit odd, not much space between the top floor apartments ceiling and the roof of the building. Er...

I'm envisaging so much rain on the top floor balcony...

Lightbox is the first phase of the residential masterplan that will run along the Manchester Ship Canal. This will see the creation of 238 apartments arranged across 19 storeys, made up of studio, one, two and three bed apartments for the private sale market.

The scheme was granted planning permission in March 2016. Detail design has commenced with a view to construction starting on site in January 2017.

More Peel value Architecture.

On the plus side, it's better than what's there now, the balconies look pretty decent, and they look better than the God awful looking tower that has already been built.

Sadly they are a sign of what Peel are rolling out across Mediacity, Salford Quays, and Pomona in years to come.

Looks like a council block that's been tarted up.

You mean Aluminium panels. Most buildings are clad in Aluminium rain screen as an alternative so its unlikely not to be.
