thanks pete. i have Newcastle pretty well covered. I dont think im missing any highrise taller then 35m.I get up there regulary.
hey if you want a good view of skyline ,you should go up the Christchurch cathedral tower lookout! Its already up 40m elevation + 32m tower= 72m above sea level. that ob tower is less then 40m high.
The YORK apartments is still tallest in town @ 44m to roof.I have 14 highrise listed on Emporis. The 2 scrapers i have UC are the 13storey TORRE & 12storey WORTH PLACE.
Did you see TORRE uc? its located 410 king St.
That 11storey bldg you like i dont think would be 40m? Did you get is name/address?? anything?
any info would be great.

heres some photos i took last year of some highrise.
The tallest structure/building in Newcastle is actually a grain silo in carrington. its stands 60.4m or 200ft high.

The tragic LATEC HOUSE (newcastles first skyscraper) which was built in 1959 and stayed tallest bldg for 50 years!
It was supposed to become part of PINNACLE apartments which is on hold.

one of the great bldgs in Newcastle The art deco CML Bldg

the boring tax office

Ok that building that u like is Worth Place and from the construction company that build it website they claim its the tallest building in newcastle. Its a pretty funky building and had cheap apartments, looks great from honeysuckle, like seeing it front on. Also all those new bars are so fun, i had my farewell drinks before i moved over here at Silo Bar.

Great update. Newcastle is one of my favourite cities. Load of new things but hopefully some more and bigger things for the future. Its like looking at Sydney 50 years or more ago.

Great updates indeed, and thanks for all the pics. Good to see a lot of development occurring in the CBD. I always feel that Newcastle suffers from shopping being concentrated around the south west (Charlestown-Kotara axis) and the fact it is at the eastern extremity of the urban area. I imagine in future if there are to be any high-rises above the current height limit, that they will be in the western approaches to the traditional core, where heritage issues are not so prominent, and accessibility is greater.

That "low-rise near the train line" lokos pretty interesting. Is it in Honeysuckle (the northern side of the line) area?

Cheers

If newcastle is 2 go past its height limit then it will be the west end part of the cbd near civic and wickham trainstations and near the new honeysuckle precinct.
Petermaloney i dont know if u have anyshots of honeysuckle house from front on? its such a nice and modern office building (its the building u have titled another lowrise near the train line). They were just about to start on its twin when i left. Next to it they are also building the new water board building which is just as modern, so soon that area will be full of shiney new office buildings.

That's a good way to put it....given that there are newer buildings than that, but still, the closest we'll get to that kind of feeling.

Great stuff Petermaloney and CULWULLA. So love Newcastle.

ive always loved the 1876 Customs House clock tower. one of James Barnets best!
height to tip of timeball is 37m
The timeball was dropped at 1pm each day to give a visual time signal for ships to navigate by.It was the city' s tallest structure for over 50 years!
