It's only 2 months away from the official operation of Beijing Daxing International Airport. A Xinhua correspondent visited the airport on July 30 to see how's the preparation going. He even encountered Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez there!

Is that space that looks like a satellite terminal intended for that purpose in the future?

Yes. It was shown on a few of the prelim renders:

During 2018, Beijing Capital International Airport became only the second airport in the world (after Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta) to serve over 100 million passengers in a year. This will obviously not last for long, however, as the new Daxing Airport will cannibalize the Capital Airport's annual passenger and cargo numbers.

Is the new airport further away from Beijing central business district? If so, why would airlines agree to move there?

Because distance to the CBD is not the defining factor of whether or not airlines use an airport. Its all about capacity and amenities.

Infact, most major new airports are further away from the CBD of the city the serve because the CBD generally doesn't have a lot of open land to build a big new airport, and in some cases, it's very hard to land planes at airports that are close to the CBD (See: Kai Tak Heart Attack).

All that's really needed is for the airport to provide a quick and convenient way for people to get to and from the CBD (In the case of Daxing, it's connected to two train lines, one of which is high speed, and a subway line as well).

Some other examples:

Denver International Airport, you actually drive by the site of the old Stapleton Airport on the way out of town.

Hong Kong's new airport (seriously, check out the Kai Tak Heart Attack videos)

Shanghai started with Hongqiao, but ran out of space to expand, so they built Shanghai Pudog with its Maglev connection.

Etc.

I think quite extreme example is in Munich.

Old airport was in what is now Messestadt Ost (Now-days inside the city) and the new airport is in Freising.

Beijing really getting into another level with the airports. Meanwhile in Mexico we got our new airport cancelled (it will be your opinion to judge if it was the right or wrong decision) and now having a second airport built in the Santa Lucía AFB which will operate with the current airport. However, that airport has no project since the time it won an illegal consultation in 2018 which caused the cancellation of the airport. No master plan or project has been presented (except for preliminary ones) and almost no airlines have wanted to move there. The airport will be managed and built by the military but due to environmental factors and lack of transparency in this new “project” it is facing a lot of judicial blockings.
I feel good for China, getting actual airports which overcome most airports in the US.

Daxing: Pre-Opening Images

With the opening just about four weeks away, a photo report has surfaced in the mainland Chinese web:
