Jesus!!! They bought the site for $18m?!! God damn it that's a bargain! Unbelievable! I guess it was so cheap because of the severe height restrictions etc in place?

Man I gotta get into property!!!

finn-ive seen renders and it looks great. ill have to "acquire" them to show you. Should look good with the set backs from the park .This is one of the last sites left in cBD that has had many proposals over the years but they have never gone to frutition. This bldg also edges 10m over Pitt st frontage. so its going to look weird for a while, instead of the big set back now from capital theatre.
Sydney really is changing and has a massive amount of scrapers uc over next few years! this is just one of them!
The word "slender" suggested that the proposal for the site had been ditched. I actually like what is suggested for the site and the developer has made great use too!!!

Hey Cul, any idea of the colour / exterior design of Meritons proposed tower right right behind it ?
Hope to hell it's not cream, beige or white - far too much of that stuff in that block !

If you have a look at the model of the building, it is in fact slender.

The building is a horseshoe or "U" structure, surrounding a void or courtyard space in the centre. The three sides of the the "U" shape are each actually very slender , which will be fanatstic in terms of natural light and ventilation for the apartments in the complex!

Now they just have to get going on the renewal of Belmore Park, so that the people who buy into this development have a decent view to look out!

Raises the question about the control the council has over the colour of buildings. Can the council say "No, you can't make it that colour because of the surrounding buildings..."?

Anyway, this proposal looks quite promising. Let's hope it gets the attention it deserves. The ecologically friendly design has been tried before to some success in Melbourne, I wonder how it will work here. But yeah, walked past this site a number of times thinking when someone would develop it.

Man the southern CBD is getting classier by the month.

as finn said fab, the tower floors are slender set in a horse shoe form!. When standing in the centre of void should look like two bldgs rising either side.
Spaz-that meriton proposal at 420pitt as been refused and they were told to go back to drawing board! so who knows what will happen to it?
fro- oh yeah! colours are a major part of its design so the colours/materials are a big point of its approval and design process.

Nice setbacks and should suit the site perfectly. It's been a bitchumened (sp?) fenced off carpark for a gazillion years.

V. nice.

Good news. The development has been approved as evidenced by the spraying of the model grey!!!!

It's truly great that The Briscoe Building is going to be incoroprated into the 485 Wattle Street Street development.

Anymore news CULWULLA on when the development will be commencing @ this stage?

Great stuff CULWULLA!

Already sprayed grey too!!

I'm so looking forward to this development, along with the (hopefully) 120m towers that may grace the Kent Brewery site.

Blackwattle Tower of Quadrant off Broadway needs a 'partner', like real bad.

All part of the continuing rejuvination of Broadway.

On the pic below is the structure that is to be demolished for 485 Wattle Street for the badly needed partner for Blackwattle Tower as part of Quadrant Off Broadway.....(also going to be a 15 storey low-rise residential scraper). Over the last few days I've passed the site including today.

Well, there are now huge pink and white barracades in front to the below pic and I've had a few peek-a-boos though the rollerdoor and there hasn't been much 'stuff' in there at all i.e. looks like they're clearing out.

Hopefully this is in preparation for the site demolition for the new 15 level residential tower.

Anyway, the before mentioned pic without the pink 'n white baracades:

LOL You mean construction. Along with Fusion is one of those multi-coloured panelled type apartments buildings of similar height laughably called Ultimo Views. It's funny because the residents aren't going to get many views as there are higher warehouses all around plus the dumpster truck station across the street.

Both projects have amazingly huge cranes though.

I'm waiting for the good news of 485 Wattle's main towers starting.
