My Co-worker went to Southern Miss and he said in the 2000s the administration thought having the only game on TV on Thursday nights would be a good thing for exposure. The problem was very little alumni live in Hattiesburg Mississippi, they live in Charlotte, Atlanta, and other business oriented southern towns. So the attendance would be so bad on those Thursday night games where no one could drive over like they could for Saturday games that they actually lost recruits who said they never saw fans in the stands on tv. So now Southern Miss rarely has Thursday night games.

So sounds like it's a crap shoot for everyone

A quick check of their schedule and you'll see they're almost a sure lock for 1-2 appearance per year, like this year.
If they're #1 and #2, WVU's GOTTA be #3.

Homecoming was last week, but I didn't get any photos of PV's new stadium.

So these will have to do:

Much.... MUCH better.

Agreed, that looks nice. Good for them, and thanks for sharing.

Looked it up -- they USED to be 3rd.

before the start of the 2013 season:

Virginia Tech leads all programs with 26 home and away games combined followed by Georgia Tech with 24; Texas A&M and West Virginia at 19 each; Miami (Fla.) and NC State with 18; Louisville and Pittsburgh at 17; BYU at 16; and Mississippi State, South Carolina and Texas with 15.
They haven't made an appearance since joining the B12; meanwhile, Miami, Louisville and Texas A&M have surpassed them, and Pitt, NC State and BYU have tied them.

Sounds right. For the most part the B1G and SEC teams balk at the weeknight games because they don't need to and they've the paying fanbase to make sticking to Saturday afternoons work out. So most of the teams hitting these Thursday night specials are the 2nd and 3rd tier programs looking to raise their profile.

I agree. I also think if you're a major program on a Thursday Night, you usually lose or play awful anyways since it throws off the routine. So yeah I would only do it if I was a mid level team who is in a decent sized city or one where people would come back during the week. If the stadium looks empty or you have a good chance of loosing the game there's no point.

One of my hidden favorite states is the Kibbie Dome in Idaho. Whenever I would create a high school team on NCAA football I would use it as my hs stadium because it felt homey. The airplane hanger shape gives it a unique look too. One of the odd things though is how it's too small to allow for proper goal posts, so they have them hanging on the wall. I believe they are the only team in college besides the other airplane hanger team in the state Iadho State to have this

Recent Renovations have let in more light and made for some higher end seating. Something just fun about this place overall though

Wow, they really have fixed that place up! Looks pretty snazzy, now. Good for them.

Yeah it used to be so dark and gloomy, adding the windows and more white paint really helped!

USA - College Football Stadiums

I personally like the Kibbie Dome and it's cozy confines, but have often wondered if UI hasn't considered digging down and making the grandstands larger, expanding to something like 18-20,000. The size was one of the
issues that Idaho had in finding an adequate permanent home for its program. Now that they are dropping down to FCS/1-AA, I can't see them focusing on expanding or building new, but I still wonder if there were any discussions.

I guess the real question is do they care about being competitive?

Why expand if you don't need to?

ETSU used to but then they folded the program. The program is back now but they don't use the Minidome anymore.

Oh wow that's cool! That's the same way Idaho state faces their field. It doesn't look as good as the way Idaho faces the field, but still cool to see.

Here is what Idaho State does:

I'm surprised Idaho State's arched roof isn't inline with the field. Interesting.

As is the case on most boards these days, a lot is used for advertising most of the time.
