QATAR CYCLE PATH

Artist's rendition of a cooled, 35 km bike path being designed in Qatar. The Emir of Qatar is funding this project. Water running in pipes will cool this facility that will run along the coastline.

35km along the coast line? This thing will run from the airport til Lusail?? I hope the roof feature will be discreet enough..but i'm not too enthusiast..

I saw a video about this on youtube a long time ago... As far as I know, it's just an idea.

This project sounds alright actually, but I don't undestand how water in the pipes cools the facility...

After I had watched the video, I searched about RAND and Adnan Rahman who described the project in the video and I find both the man and the institution are really existed, but if you search about this project in their site you can’t find anything about it or even related to such a project like this!

Suszan: I think this project is fake because the rendering is quite dull! You can’t see how the cooling system is going to work and the only thing that picture shows that the structure is floating in the air which is structurally quite impossible!!! And even the video seems to be fake coz it’s not professional and it reminds me of the Speaking test in the TOEFL exam.

However you can’t compare this project to the certainty of Wall Stadium. The stadium is going to be built and if you don’t believe in it, you should visit MZ website or visit their office and ask them if you have any doubts about it.

Don’t get me wrong , I really like the idea of this project but I don’t believe in it.

From what I know, RAND actually has offices in Qatar Foundation, I'm sure they might have more info about this there.

Although I do agree that I dont see many people using this facility in the future, but I hope I'll be proven wrong. I actually think its a nice structure (asthetically) I dont know why many are disliking this.

btw, Millenial, you can actually see the point of where the structure is pivoted in the picture, right at the end.

My reason not to like it is that it will be running all along the corniche, this will probably block the view to the sea from the road, and all you will be able to see are some ugly pipes. it will also take away alot of the greenry. and then of course the obvious reason, it looks damn ugly!
How many are actually gonna use this? they say it will cool down till approx 32 degrees, doesnt help much you will be ½ dead before you get on your bicycle anyway.

I know what you mean about the whole blocking of the sea view, but I'm sure they'll have something in mind, so lets at least wait till more reneders are shown (assuming this project is really happening).

About the weather, my guess is, most of the people who will use this facility will be non-qataries, and you'll be surprised how many actually do enjoy the hot and humid weather here in the gulf (I know, it sounds crazy to me too, but its true). another thing is, if it really does manage to drop down the weather to 32, that should push the total months where its cool enough to cycle around to a good 6-9 months, but thats just my 2 cents

This project has been cancelled. After conceiving the project they realised there isnt enough space to accomodate it, the road and the corniche walk.
