just got back from the ACC where I nearly wet myself seems like there is two towers. North tower has a height of 168m while south tower has a height of 166m. The building gets wider as it gets taller so the top floor is double the width of the ground floor if that makes sense. She said renders will be on the website by the end of the week and has been sent to AAL for approval before the ACC can asses it.

A NEW TALLEST HOPEFULLY.

The elevation pics didn't look great but it did look all glass. Will be better when the proper renders are released.

Wow! This is amazing. I never thought I would see the day Unfortunately AAL will surely not approve it. I am surprised this hasn't got any press in Adelaide. There needs to be public pressure for this one to go ahead. 168m seems very tall as well for 31 floors. It would have a huge impact on the skyline from all directions but particularly the northern skyline in that position on Currie Street. Fairly slim site too.

Exciting news! But I don't want to get my hopes up just yet until AAL approves it. Still... WOW!

Wowser! I thought Adelaide had a height cap, or that nothing could be built taller than the current tallest ?

beamer, those heights you posted, are they RL's? i think Adelaide sits approx 40mRl, thus the towers could be under 130m?
i might contact my friend at ACC and see what she can come up with. sounds cool.

Due to the location (basically directly over the road from Santos) I can't see any reason why ACC would reject this. You have to admit that it is in line with their 'pyramid' model of Adelaide.

Here is mock-up render by Pikey from the Sensational-Adelaide website, gives an idea of the location:

Hopefully it works.

i spoke with planner and yes the height is RL166.5m to top of curved fin.
The ground is RL43.5m, thus 123m above grd.
she will send stuff to me soon. the DA will be online within a few weeks.
its just one tower but its a T shape, maybe thats why it looks like two towers.
the RL for Santos is RL175m ,so this tower is less then 10m lower.
should make an impact.

That sounds like a much more realistic height. Much better chance of getting approved by AAL too. 'T' shape sounds great as the site frontage to Currie Street is fairly thin. 'T' shape will allow more bulk from the northern elevation I guess. 123m is still very high for Adelaide. Very close to Santos height. It will probably appear taller than Santos from most northern aspects. All glass, mmmm, finally a tower of height that is all glass and that will be visible from the traditional skyline shots. Apparantly this one is being submitted via Connor Holmes which got the recent large campus Yorke Development through ACC. I really hope this one goes ahead. This development would really change the face of Adelaide. If DTEI commits to space come budget time then it will definately go ahead, otherwise who knows. Thanks for the enquiries beamer and Culwulla, hopefully we can get some renders not too far off.

Very very cool.
I know I'm being picky but it looks like it might block the view of Santos when viewed from Morphett St / Adelaide Oval / North Adelaide ?
I'd love the talls to be built in an east / west axis to give the city a real lengthy look ( like Perth) when viewed from north south which is the most commonly viewed angle.
