Sydney's 1960's architecture

Sydney has only a few 60;s boxes left.
most highrise from that era are either being demolished or reconstructed with more floors or new facades.
Sydney has some good legacys from 60's some of the larger projects-

#ANZ BANK-1965
BLIGH HOUSE-1966
#GOLDFIELDS HOUSE-1966 recently reclad.

a few highrises in darling point also were built in 1960's

ill kick off with one of my favs from 67, being the ADC House cnr King/Eliz.
Built to 46m/150ft height limit imposed on site due to closeness to hyde park.(plantroom-57m)
love the washed out glazing effect. its actually quite good upclose.

I remember back in 1963 the AMP was the tallest building in Australia..the view from the observation deck up on the roof was amazing and open with a slim weather roof over....I think there was a Commonwealth Centre nearby ??? and a black tallish building ??? was it the state Office block was starting construction..both now demolished. Guess the AMP is classified??? It should be.

The State Office Block was demolished in 1997. I remember it coming down.

You have to admit that many of the towers Sydney got in 1960's arent as bad as you think they were. Australia Square and AMP still have the beauty today as they did all those years ago.

There are absolute shockers, but they have or will face the bulldozer or if they are kind, a makeover.

I wish the ADC Building was another 30 storeys taller because I admit I'd look impressionable in the city skyline. Very NYC
