Nice pics Dan. Goose Fair is a really good laugh even if you go with no money.
Everyone is having a good time and the atmosphere is amazing.

I think from Nottingham the fair comes to Hull - its on from last Friday to this Saturday. I recognise quite a few of the rides as well.

Yeah your right they do... They would have left today.

Quote:
Nottingham Goose Fair is considered to be the most prestigious fairs in the UK. However, in recent years, the dates of the fair have created a problem, as it now overlaps with the 10-day Hull Fair. Some of the top rides from the Goose Fair therefore have to travel directly from Nottingham to Hull, not opening at Hull until around the fourth day of the fair.

BTW..that quote is wrong Danz. Hull Fair lasts for 8 days.

friday to saturday, excluding the first sunday, so if the rest of that quote is true, it would technically only be the third day of the fair.

Also, every year throughout my childhood, Hull city council proclaimed Hull Fair to be the largest travelling funfair in Europe. Recently, however, they only claim 'one of the largest'.

This claim has now been taken up by Newcastle City Council in relation to their own Hoppings fair.

Also. Rather tragically, you have used a quote from Wikipedia there and actually edited it for your own ends.

I believe this was the original quote:

"Nottingham Goose Fair is considered to be the most prestigious fairs in the UK. However, in recent years, the dates of the fair have created a problem, as it now overlaps with the equally prestigious 10-day Hull Fair. Some of the top rides from the Goose Fair therefore have to travel directly from Nottingham to Hull, not opening at Hull until around the fourth day of the fair."

I know this because you posted the quote without your own handiwork on another thread related to accolades in your city, when I also had to correct you on giving out misinformation to bolster your claims. I also noticed the quote on the Nottingham Goose fair wikipedia site afterwards, but presumably before you changed it on there as well (i'm not sure about that, but i presume you have).

Does it really matter? The thread is about Nottingham Goose Fair not Hull Fair.
Im not really bothered anyway to be honest it's a travelling fair at the end of the day.

Danz has no problem with (and is perfectly entitled to) join in other threads to healthily debate claims made, and request back up for statements etc. I'm merely doing the same.

I'm sure he won't see it as a problem, because I'm assuming he has got genuine statistics to back himself up as opposed to doctored wikipedia quotes.

What other travelling fairs are there in the UK that are of a similar size? I can't think of anymore.
