---+++The Official HORIZON APARTMENTS construction thread+++---

We'll keep you updated with some photos of this 19 level building ASAP. Currently, facade work is proceeding on the lower floors, while the upper floors are being constructed.

This is good that we now have a thread to discuss all things Horizon.

I remember taking a pic or two recently of the Horizon from Light's Vision. It's not very celar though, so you can only point out the crane. I'll post it when I find it.

The building can now be seen from the lookout on Montefiore Hill.

It has been for ages, I took a photo recently from there, about two months ago.

The photo is the one I'm still trying to find on Tripod.

The building is currently halfway up, compared to the wall of the Embassy. The facade of the lower part of the building is currently going up, while a special barrier has been put up, as well as temporary elevators going up to the 7th or 8th floors. Still about 10 floors to go.

Update: The floors plates are starting to rise again, and the facade work on the lower floors is in place.

More updates and pics soon.

Who said that Adelaides not getting some action, because if you would have taken that same photo a few years ago, half of the buildings on it didn't exist.

*Allegra Hotel
*Embassy
*EDS office block
*Convention Centre

BTW I believe that the Horizon will be as tall as the crane when its completed.

Oh you'll be surprised chrisaus, especially with North Terrace, where the buildings have had a major effect of how the street looks. Has turned it from the quietest part of town to one of the most bustling.

Anyway, new pic, thanks Adam:

Not to mention the redevelopment of the East End, David Jones, Rundle Mall Plaza, the Convention Centre and the apartment complex they're building on Hindmarsh Square.

They are also starting on the construction of the new Majestics Hotel on Frome Street, as well as Alpha Apartments also on Frome next to the Imax Carpark.

Here are the buildings that have had a major effect on the western end of North Terrace since 1995:
EDS Centre (left)
Horizon Apartments (u/c and centre)
The Embassy (right)
Convention Centre (extended)
TAFE Buildings (on the other side of Morphett Street)

Also coming in soon is a new proposed 17 level hotel to be squeezed in the middle of Horizon and The Embassy. Look carefully, and there is a very narrow gap.

That's a good photo to destroy the stereotype that nothing happens in Adelaide, coz if Adam had taken that same photo 5 years ago, none of that existed.

Now that you tell me, there are probably heaps of buildings that have been built in Northwestern Adelaide cbd that I have forgotten.
