MUMBAI | Planet Godrej | 181m | 51 fl | Com

Planet Godrej -- Mahalaxmi, Mumbai

An iconic series of residential towers coming up in Mahalaxmi, Planet Godrej, developed by Godrej Construction, is one of Mumbai's first towers breaking the 50 story mark.

The tower is actually five towers of 51 stories connected together, and are marketed as Celesta, Strata, Electra, Aqua and Terra -- which I presume are being named after what the developer feels modern day subjects of the Roman Empire would presumably call the base elements, if they could.

The project is designed by DP Architects, Singapore, and are is of the first towers to come on former mill land -- in this case Simplex Mills.

I agree. Most construction in Mumbai is coming up on former Mill Land. Something like 1/5 of developed land in Mumbai Central is mill land.

Yeah, the tower is coming up in 5 parts. The developers are actually selling the tower as five towers connected by skybridges.

Here are some construction updates:

Yeah, the mill lands are developing into skyscrapers or being restored and turned into malls. This tower was also built on old mills.

They do seem to be constructing the tower one 'piece'/'tower' at a time

its just way too massive... i hate such wall-like buildings. they extremely spoil the view of everyone who doesnt live in it!
build it with some free spaces and holes in it. or at least put some greenery on it.

Dude, I dunno where you're from, but I aint never seen a commie block like that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not singing its praises, but most residential buildings look like that during construction. Once the painting and exterior finishings are done, the building will look pretty unique
