Great pics!
I just read that the inauguration will be on 14th of June.
There should be more bridges Romania<->Bulgaria.

Tomorrow is an exceptional day - the second rail&road bridge Calafat - Vidin between Romania and Bulgaria is opened. I cannot put it into words how important and expected is this bridge in Europe, the region and especially in Bulgaria.

I want to thank all people that helped and supported the bridge realization and provided footage(muchas gracias FCC) and information. Huge thanks to the financing institutions(EU, EIB, KfW, AFD), constructor(FCC) and governments of Romania and Bulgaria.

Wish you joy, prosperity, health and motorways to the bridge on both sides!

Obviously the bridge has such a great potential that Serbian Road Administration is paying a troll to post "bad" news in the bulgarian forum and discourage people from trying the new route.

That is really a great infrastructural project and great achievement for both Bulgaria and Romania. Hopefully this beautiful bridge will be the accelerator for economy growth and better life in this poor region.
Here are some more nice pics and info about the new Danube bridge at Vidin-Calafat (or as we know it now bridge 'New Europe') http://www.testproductreview.com/201...e-opening.html

That is what 'good' neighbors on the Balkans do... unfortunately.

Repair works on Calafat–Vidin bridge will be finalised by January or February 2014 [Romania: Curierul Naţional]

Vladimir Bereanu, a journalist at the Bulgarian National TV Station, has stated for “Curierul Naţional" newspaper that the holes on the roadway of Calafat-Vidin Bridge, which was put into operation only a couple of months ago, will be probably repaired towards the end of January or February. Moreover, he has officially requested the Bulgarian Ministry of Transports to provide information on the evolution of works and the estimated period of time necessary to complete the repair works. Contacted by phone, the administrators of the transport companies from Dolj County have stated that vehicles have difficulties in travelling on Calafat-Vidin Bridge, given the repair works currently being carried out.

Curierul National: Will the Calafat–Vidin bridge be repaired by February? / Podul Calafat - Vidin va fi reparat până în februarie? page: 12, by Afrodita Cicovschi, date: Monday, November 25, 2013

The bridge is now visible on GE. It looks as if romanians are widening border checkpoint access roads and the checkpoint itself. Is this really the case?
