No particular reason, but it just doesn't happen as you see.

Japan is a very, very earthquake prone country- that's why people are hesitant about building supertalls.

No, technology has overcome that bit. Before earthquakes, if buildings get taller than 200m, wind is more of a problem and that problem is already solved. It's all down to economics. At the current stage, ~200m box seems more economical and profitable than 300m+ supertalls and that's it. So, yeah, "no particular reason" should be reworded to "no particular technical reason".

　一方、関電の発電所は１万キロワット。自社の電力系統を通して堺市内の工場や一般家庭などに供給する。太陽光発電は天候に左右されやすく、電力会社の太陽光発電所はこれまで四国電力（３００キロワット）などいずれも小規模だったが、関電は「関西で数百万キロワットを導入する」と積極的だ。大規模発電所を実際に運用することで技術的課題を検証する。

Yup, prime beachside property. Before I thought there was only one of those houses, but I guess the owner had the one on the right built. Either that or his neighbor bought Tadao Ando's design and had it inverted.
