Yapı Merkezi Construction and Industry Inc. - Doppelmayr Tramways Ltd. Consortium has been awarded the Taksim - Kabataş Funicular System Construction and Electrical Works after the negotiation held on May 28th, 2002. The Project was tendered on a turn-key basis by Greater City Municipality of Istanbul Engineering Department on January 22nd, 2002.
The tender award decision was taken June 7th, 2002 by the Council of the Greater City of İstanbul and the approval by the Mayor was received on June 17th, 2002. The Contract was signed and approved by the Notary on July 12th, 2002 and approved by the Court of Accounts on August 5th, 2002. The project will be financed by the Greater City Municipality through its own funds and will be completed in 18 months. Following the completion of the construction and installation works, maintenance and supervision services will be provided for 12 months. Within the Project; design works, construction and finishing works of Kabataş underground station which will be constructed by cut-cover method, construction and finishing works of Taksim underground station which will be constructed partly by deep tunnel method and partly by cut-cover method, 520 meters long deep tunnel construction between the stations, track works, electrical and mechanical works, communication system, supply and installation of escalators and disabled elevators will be undertaken by Yapı Merkezi Construction and Industry Inc.
Supply and installation of two funicular cars, complete drive system, ropes, rope sheaves and tensioning system and related design works will be undertaken by Dopplemayr Tramways Ltd.
A two-storey car-park having a total construction area of 6,640 sqm and capacity of 171 cars is plaanned to be built next to the Kabataş Station.

Taksim-4'üncü Levent Metro Hattı'nı Kabataş'ta deniz ve raylı sisteme bağlayacak olan Taksim-Kabataş tramvayı, 29 haziranda devreye girecek.

Kabataş İDO iskelesi önünde yapılacak törenle hizmete alınacak sistem sayesinde Taksim-Kabataş arası 110 saniyeye inecek.

Taksim-4'üncü Levent Metro Hattı'nı Kabataş'ta deniz ve raylı sisteme bağlayan Taksim-Kabataş tramvayı (füniküler sistemi), İstiklal caddesi ile Karaköy arasında 131 yıl önce hizmete giren tarihi tünelin ardından İstanbul ve Türkiye'deki ikinci füniküler sistem olma özelliğini taşıyor.

Test sürüşü geçtiğimiz ocak ayında İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Kadir Topbaş'ın katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen füniküler sistem hizmete alındığında, İstanbul Metrosu'nu (Taksim-4'üncü Levent Metrosu) kullanan yolcular istasyon dışına çıkmadan füniküler sisteme aktarma yapabilecek.

Ayrıca deniz yolu veya tramvay ile Kabataş'a gelen yolcular, buradan Taksim'e, Taksim'den de metro ağı ile Ayazağa veya Otogar ile Atatürk Havalimanı istikametine ulaşabilecek.

Taksim ve Kabataş olmak üzere 2 istasyondan oluşan sistemde, karşılıklı olarak halatlarla hareket eden 375 kişi kapasiteli çift vagonlu 2 araç yer alıyor.

En ekonomik sistem

Sistemin hizmete girmesiyle 544 metrelik tünelde 3 dakika sıklıklasaatte tek yönde 7 bin 500 kişi taşınacak. Yolculuk sadece 110 saniye sürecek. Yüzde 22 eğimle inşa edilen Taksim-Kabataş füniküler sistemi, bu kadar yüksek bir eğimde çalışabilecek en güvenli, yatırım ve bakım açısından en ekonomik sistem olma özelliğini taşıyor.

Yapı Merkezi-Garaventa Konsorsiyumu tarafından inşa edilen sistem için 87 bin 300 metreküp tünel kazısı yapıldı, 25 bin 400 metreküp beton ile 34 bin metrekare püskürtme beton döküldü.

Ayrıca, 4 bin 740 ton demir kullanıldı, 4 bin 550 metre fore kazık çakıldı ve 26 bin 590 metrekare su yalıtımı yapıldı. Sistemin hizmete girmesi nedeniyle düzenlenecek törene, Başbakan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan'ın da katılması bekleniyor

I was about to comment on the small number of seats, but I suppose you don't need to sit for a few second journey. :D

I used it today... :D I am the first civilian to get on it, believe or not believe. After the offical openning ceremony, Prime Minister came to Taksim from Kabataş when he were leaving, I entered the station there was no one else. I and my friend got on and went to Kabataş. When we arrived Kabataş, people were waiting out to enter the station but there was a security zone. hahahaha, they were so amazed to see some civilians getting out :rofl:

Stations are wonderful, nice deoctation with nice white lighting sytstem. Trains are wonderful, soooo large and aesthetic, and very comfortable. When outside was buring like hell because of the weather, stations and trains are so cool and comfortable... It is really wonderful... :eek:kay:
