The Monument of the Constitution 2011
Raised to mark the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence carrying the architectural specifications of the Turkmen people, this monument symbolizes the neutrality and independence of the Turkmen state as well as the unity of Turkmen people.
The monument sits on 460 x 260.2 meters and its surface area is 119,600 square meters. The entrance of the facility passes through the ceremonial ground stretching over 200.00 x 116.00 meters. Ten military sculptures with a height of 12 meters on the two sides of this ceremonial ground welcome the visitors. The 10-meter high platform is accessed through the ceremonial area which has ornamental pools on each side and is surrounded by a garden. It has been structured with three layers of pools and green areas. The Monument of the Constitution rises from this platform. The total height of the monument including the platform reaches 185.00 meters. The main structure located at the center of the platform has a total height of 27.00 meters with three pyramidal structures in the shape of an eight-pointed Turkmen star. A tower is located at the center of the main structure.
The tower rises independently for a further 91 meters starting from the elevation 27meters to 185 meters. These numbers have importance for the Turkmenistan state; Turkmenistan gained its independence on October 27, 1991. The height of 185 meters represents the day, May 18, 1992, when the constitution of Turkmenistan was approved. This figure also represents 185 countries that approved the neutral statute of Turkmenistan. The tower has a golden colored carpet structure symbolizing the unity of the Turkmen people and the five clans on its corners and carries the moon and five stars, the state's symbols. The building has one basement floor, five major building floors and 15 floors in the tower. Car parking lots, technical rooms and an air condition control center are located on the basement floor. Meeting rooms, conference rooms, cafeteria, bookshop, museum, offices, a library and a reading hall are located at the entrance of the building, while there are observation terraces on two different floors.
