Neverovatni događaj od prošle nedelje, kada je američki pilot Česli B. Salenberbeg (57) „erbasom A320“ uspeo da sleti u reku Hadson u Njujorku i spase živote svih putnika, nije jedini takav događaj u istoriji svetske avijacije.
Pre 46 godina, 21. avgusta 1963. godine, ruski pilot Viktor Mostovoj je sleteo u Nevu u centru tadašnjeg Lenjingrada.
On je avionom „tupoljev 124“, koji je tada bio ponos sovjetske avijacije, leteo na liniji Talin-Moskva, preko Lenjingrada (današnji Sankt Peterburg). Pri poletanju je došlo do tehničkog kvara i kontrola letenja je pilotu savetovala da istroši višak goriva pre nego što pokuša da sleti na obližnju poljanu. Međutim, pokazivač goriva se takođe pokvario i Mostovoj je bio primoran da sleti u reku. Sletanje je prošlo bez problema, a 44 putnika, među kojima i dvoje dece, kao i svi članovi posade, spaseni su zahvaljujući jednom brodu, tegljaču, koji je bio u blizini.

Services were operated with a stop in Montreal. Air Canada also operated flights between Toronto and Zagreb, both nonstop and via Zurich. In its last year of operation to the city, during the winter of 1990/91, the airline maintained four weekly flights, from Thursday through to Sunday. Two of these services were operated with a Boeing 767, while the other two with a Lockheed L1011 TriStar.
