Request for Scoping Opinion as to the information to be contained within an Environmental Impact Assessment to be submitted in support of an application for demolition of existing buildings and construction of a 44 storey building to provide 122,000 sqm.

Judging by the amount of floor space & number of floors & knowing the site is pretty small I would imagine this would be quite a slender tower. Quite excited -its the first non CWG tower on the CW estate. I wonder if they move away from the CWG blocky tower norm.

Can anyone remember how much the building sold for? I'm sure the accountants who are in the building (CLB Littlejohn Frazer) sold it last year but 1 can't remember how much.

Do they also own the car park beside the roundabout (with the traffic lights in the middle) leading to Westferry etc? If not, I agree, the footprint is tiny!!

CWG will try and scupper it just like they tried to with Columbus.
Why would CWG try & scupper it? They have sold quite a lot of there buildings on the original estate now so it wouldn't look particularly good for then to say to those who have bought their buildings you cant develop your sites. Anyway what can they do to stop development ??

122000 m2 on that tiny plot? Even if you stretch it all the way to the roundabout it's not big. They gotta go pretty tall. Interesting.

Btw; I'm sure I saw some renders on one of the big architect's sites of a white stone building proposed for this site. Very nice. A bit like the (few) good modern and uber posh stone buildings in Knightsbridge or the City. Sat very well there between Cabot Sq and Westferry. Does that ring any bells anyone?

Edit: found a render of the previous proposal on Goth's site;

^^It would certainly be an ideal site for a tall and slender tower. I seem to remember that CWG were pretty hostile to Columbus - they see this as there patch. I suppose it depends on whether the tower will be used in it's entirety by the developer/owner or floors/units rented out to multiple companies - thus being in direct competition to CWG. It would certainly fill the gap between RS and CW - can't wait to see some designs and renders!
