That's what I'm talking about! Small-plate, high-density towers built on the light rail line are exactly the kind of developments the downtown needs in order to achieve the goal of 70,000 residents by 2025.
What a great surprise for 2017!

Skyway connected too! Like 4marq 2.0

Now if we could get one twice as high as this at 5th & Hennepin or the parking ramp across the street. Onwards and upwards!
It's a glassier version of 4Marq, at least. Pretty blasé, but decent. I'd welcome more of this as long as they stay in this height range.

Fantastic! The architecture pays homage to the International Style of the 1950's. This is exactly the type of slender, high rise urban infill that helps create the dynamic energy and critical mass of people you see in Toronto, NY, and Chicago. I hope we will see more taller buildings being proposed in and around Nicollet Mall. This definitely sets a precedent and ups the ante. Opus and United properties take note!
I will reserve judgement after a more colorful render. Seems a bit bland.

I'm happy about the height. Happy about more glass then we've seen recently in the area, not to happy about more metal screening covering above ground parking but I do like the pyramidal arches that sort of mimic the building next door. At this point I will give it a good 7 (1-10).
Christmas couldn't come sooner for Bob. This should make him happy.

Excuse my ignorance, but from which side of the building will autos enter? The "front" of the building is the face where the tower is setback from the podium, correct?

The architecture leaves a bit to be desired, but this is nice height and massing, and a smart way to develop a thin lot. This is going to add some good additional density to an already dense area. I'm also breathing a sigh of relief that the buildings they will be tearing down don't look to be terribly architecturally significant.
The front right is where the entrance is, at least from what I got from the PDF.

It's a box, but frankly there about 1000 40 story boxes in Manhattan and their skyline looks great! This is good high rise infill plain and simple. And as for the box, the facade has a very appealing and strong vertical arrangement giving it a nice towering presence. The materials looks high quality. They're using what appears to be slightly tinted aqua blue colored glass which should look classy. My only criticism is the top could be a little more defined/tapered by indenting the windows similar to the 12 and 13 floor "sky garden". Anyways, hope it gets built!

See, that's what I was thinking, but couldn't believe they'd have auto access through the front. I imagine there must not be an alley along the back, because front auto access in an urban corridor like this is rare, at least from my personal experience, anyway.

So I actually had it backwards. The tower is set back from the podium at its back.
Looks like there will be access from the alleyway, to the single-level underground parking:

What!!! 40 stories!!! This must be an error!

^^ LOL! I like the way this proposal is "wedged" in between two existing structures like they build in NY and Chicago! We'd better not get too excited about this, you know what usually happens!
Awesome news! The design is nothing special, but certainly ok. John is absolutely right that NYC and Chicago (& Toronto) have scores of these buildings. It will be great to have more residents in the downtown core. Plus, this building will help diminish the blocky presence that 33 South Sixth has on the skyline.
