MgMaStudio wins Baltic Triangle consent
1 Mar 2018, 14:52
The Liverpool architecture practice has secured planning permission to redevelop light industrial premises at 42 Jamaica Street into creative workspaces.

The development will see the existing warehouse, currently used as a drive-through car-wash, comprehensively redeveloped with new internal floors. The existing brickwork elevations will be retained and new openings inserted.

Anchored by a food and drink unit fronting Jamaica Street, the scheme will provide 10,400 sq ft of refurbished commercial space for developer Christianson North West.

MgMaStudio director Matthew Ashton said: “This scheme will make a contribution to the regeneration of the Baltic Triangle area, providing high quality commercial space to attract growing businesses. It is designed to facilitate a mix of uses, with units suitable for creative businesses who require a street frontage, and more traditional loft-style office spaces.

“The development mix is an expression of the vibrant business community which thrives in the area. We envisage creative and artisan manufacturing sitting alongside digital businesses, anchored by a social space food and drink use.”

The units fronting Brick Street feature shopfront-style entrances, with some featuring mezzanines as the new ground floor steps down the sloped site.

Christianson, which is registered at Stanley Street Liverpool, plans to develop the scheme for completion in 2019.
