When planners finally get a grip?
It's a sign of the changing times. For the last decade (20 years maybe?), the supermarkets have been building big out of town stores that you the wife/husband and kids drive to once a week to do your complete shop. Now, there are so many more single households and childless households in the city, and they just want to be able to pick up a few things on a random wednesday night. The supermarkets didn't get to be where they are today without moving with the times. Not a great fan but I do believe that the general public like these stores, any time I've been in them they've been busy. Besides its better than an empty unit, no?
Yes, its not to bad, little bit small; prefer Anniesland which has been given a re-fit to match the one at Barras.Has anyone tried the Morrisons out at the Barras? Now that's a nice supermarket!
Yep agree , Sainsburys Local do stock a decent range . Compare a Tesco Trongate and Sainsburys Local Trongate , i feel Tesco a bit tired and clinical .From my own experience, the butcher, artisan breadmaker and cheesemonger don't particularly have to worry from the opening of a Sainsburys Local. What I am happy to see the back of, however, is the local Costcutter.
Sainsburys, I feel, is the best of these mini-supermarkets. So when one opens up near me with good opening hours and a decent selection of stock, I'm not going to complain.
Too true. I'm genuinely sorry for the butchers and fruitmongers etc. that struggle, but have no sympathy for the horrible chains of rotten wee convenience stores. They're playing the same game as Tesco and Sainsbury's, and have gotten away with being rubbish and expensive for years. From my own experience, the butcher, artisan breadmaker and cheesemonger don't particularly have to worry from the opening of a Sainsburys Local. Don't think so mate. There are two new Tescos - one where agenda used to be, on the top of the hill, and the other on Cathcart Rd at Mount Florida. Closest Sainsbury's is Viccy Road I think.Heard that theres a new Sainsburys Local in Battlefield anyone know exactly where though?
THere is now a Sainsburys in the Shawlands precinct. Scandalously expensive though. £5.18 for a bog standard medium sized pizza the other nightDon't think so mate.
