Northern SouthAmerica's Capital City - A gorgeous monster

Caracas, Venezuela

So what do you have to say about this city's concept? They built a city along a complicated mountain system, rainforest type of weather, all jungle type of flora..... and still they succeeded in inhabiting the area. I have been to this city and I know for a fact the weather is incredible, almost perfect for the entire year, sunlight is very crisp, and nature just goes nuts... it can be truly beautiful. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any city on Earth that just sits on a jungle type of mountain system and manages to look great and be efficient.

I usually think how easy people had it in the US, to be precise the Northeast (where New York is located) and the Midwest (where Chicago is located). They didn't have to face any natural boundaries, it was all mostly plains. Our founders had it easy, and that's maybe the reason why the US grew to be number 1 in such a small amount of time.

Please start a debate about areas in which cities are built on.

The terrain in the Midwest is easy yes, but the weather is much rougher. Is it Caracas, Venezuela?
I think it is Caracas too cos it is a large city high in the mountains and looks South American plus the underground sign is in Spanish.

true, much rougher, but my point is that construction and development were relatively easier because there were no mountains to go through, there was very little land to level. These people had to actually tame nature in order to prevail. I don't have pictures, but the road that communicates this city with the rest of the country, if I remember correctly, is pretty much floating along a gigantic mountain system. I tell you... I don't know anything about architecture and engineering, but I know this is brilliant engineering.

I guess they were lucky the weather is so nice (you almost never feel it's too hot or too cold when you are inside this city). I think this city is one of those hidden treasures that people make so hard to find about.
well, almost all brazilian cities are built in VERY RUGGED terrain... there is rarely FLAT terrain in Brazil, and most of it is used in agriculture. While we dont have very tall mountains, we are very hilly, and most of our cities are built in such terrain. Rio de Janeiro is one of thousands of examples.

São Paulo sits atop a 800 meter high plateau which is "relatively" flat (far from flat in fact), but is surrounded on all sides by mountains, including the WALL to the southeast, a natural wall of mountains.
^yeah good to know. I still believe Caracas' case is unique.

Caracas is really gorgeous, but I dont think its so unique. Look pics of Monterrey in Mexico...

yeah looks awesome right? they call it the queen of the north
^that's one of the coolest comments about Caracas I've ever heard."A tropical Tokyo".
Now that I see the pics again and think about it, I must say I agree.

I believe it's one of the most modern cities in Latinamerica, if not the most modern (as you can see there is very little old architecture; Venezuelans are obssessed with modernism I guess). Anyway, I think it's an amazing looking town.
good pics artista violeta!! :eek:kay:
wow...

these pictures are beautiful
as is my city :)

Caracas is unique because of its people more than because of its terrain or weather.
