A Once in a Lifetime Experience: On Top of the Kabaa

These pics feature my dad on top of the Kabaa in Mecca in 1994. He used to live and work there and he happened to know the guy who is responsible for the cleaning and veil changing process. The guy offered to get him inside and on the Kabaa and it was.

Going up the ladders to the top. They entered from the side door. Yes, there is another door, covered by the black veil. The door you see, the gold one (Yes, GOLD not just golden) leads to the main atrium of the Kabba. This one is sealed and the key is with a certain family living in Mecca. They have had this key since history. Muhammed PBUH didnt take it from them and he said that holding the Kabaa's key will be the responsibility of this family forever. Till now, when they need to enter the main atruim, they call for this family's big guy who has the key.

My father entered through the side door. It leads to a staircase that leads directly to the roof without entering the Kabaas main hall, which is empty except for some inscriptions on the wall as I heared. Nobody is allowed in there.

On the Kabaa's door is where the Quraishis put the agreement to boycott Beni Hashem, Muhammed's family. Later when they opened it to see the parchment, they found it has been eaten by bugs except for the word "Bismika Allahoma"

Reached the roof.

Praying. You will notice these white veils going down to cover the Kabaa, this is because this was the time of the year they clean it and install the new black veil. (a new one each year, made from the best silk, the golden verses on it is sewed with pure gold threads)

Sitting on the new black veil. It is rolled and covered in protective clothing untill the kabaa is ready for its new outfit. On the left is my dad, ont the right is the guy who is responsible for the cleaning process.

A final moment of meditation and though before leaving. Making use of an ipportunity that comes once in a lifetime, and that will leave millions willing to experience it.

WOW, SPEECHLESS!!

I think we are all very lucky to have access to these pictures let alone ever get an opportunity to ever enter the Kaaba.

What a treat, greatly appreciated Jehtman. Thank you.
You are welcome.
thx for the pictures, are there no pictures of the holy stone and from the inside?
Wow, what a privelage it must have been!!! It must have been a pleasure for your dad!
what an honor to do!!

bbtw on the side note why did jechtman get banned?
I don't know skyline-BRN. But I would think you're in a better position to find out than us.

Thanks for the tour Jechtman. I saw some pitcures of the inside of the Kaaba, in a picture book published by SBL group to comemorate their involvement in the expansion of the mosque. Unfortunately the book is at my uncle's house. So I can't scan any pics.
WOW!! amazing pictures!!
Hmmm, just a question, maybe someone else could answer this...
Besides this being an incredible experience, being inside the Kaa'ba... However, as far as I know, one can pray anywhere in the world if it's clean, including a church or another house of prayer, all except in and on top of the Kaa'ba. This I heard from some sheikh once a long time ago, although the reasons behind his advice I don't know. Does anyone know anymore of this?
Wow...i'm speechless. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
Thanks Jehtman VERy MUCH
Hope that I will ever be able to do the same done by ur dad
It must have been a really spiritual experience. I would love to visit Mecca someday, but I heard that non-muslims are not allowed in the city. Can anyone tell me why this is so??? I believe everyone should be allowed to visit the birthplace of one of the world's major religions.

?? Didn't Bilal give Adhan on top of the KAABA after Muslims returned to Makkah?

Because only muslims are allowed to go there. Its like Vactian city, only Catholics are allowed to get in.
BTW Nice thread man. I loved it!

Yes..
But:
Could the Pope leave any non-christian (i forget: Anyone out of the high clergical leaders of Catholics)
to enter The Sanctury or the hidden basements of the St Paul Cathedral?

I don't think so.

Makkah is totally different, because it has nothing to be hidden!

All people can go to the web and get photos of the interior of Kaaba.

So. simply, no need to allow non muslims to enter.
whataa wonderfulllllllllllllll time life experince ...:bow:
