The citadel was surrounded by a deep ditch:

There is still no way of entering it except through this small gate house:

Why there isn't a single thread about Iran sites, but 5 or more with not much photos
Maybe for the reason that there isn't a single thread about "Classic Architecture", there are numerous buildings with different architectural styles in Iran.

Iran is a country, you can't measure that with Europe as a continent which has threads for different architectural styles

And your thread title is general as much it can be, nothing tells me it is about Iran, so you don't make any sense!:)

The thing is I would like to have info about Iranian sites at one place so I can check easily when I'm interested

The diversity of architectural styles in Iran is not less than Europe, one of the reason is that Iran has various geographical features such as mountain ranges, deserts, seashores, forests, islands, rivers, lakes, tablelands, ... and another reason is that several different poeples live in Iran, such as Gilakis and Mazandaranis in the north, Turkmens and Kazakhs in the northeast, Baluchi and Brahui (a Dravidian people) in the southeast, Arabs in the southwest, Kurds in the west, Turks in the northeast and Persians in the center, there are also several other peoples such as Georgians, Armenians, Assyrians, Jews, Africans, ... who have their own cities and villages in Iran. For a long time Iran was ruled by Mongols, Tatars, Greeks, Macedonians and etc, some parts of Iran were ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, Hephthalites, Russians, British, ...
