Vila Rica do Ouro Preto (from Portuguese, Black Gold Rich Village) is a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, a former colonial mining town located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains and designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its outstanding Baroque architecture.

There are other wonderful colonial cities on the state called Minas Gerais in Brazil : the nicest are Tiradentes, Diamantina and Ouro Preto but Minas Gerais has the famous Basílica de Bom Jesus de Matosinhos in Congonhas that is World Heritage by UNESCO too. I show you a map of the old Royal Road Route:

If someone need more informations about Ouro PReto, add me in Facebook or Orkut: Marcelo Lisa.
bela  its the first time i saw the interior of the teater...
Truely one of the most beautiful towns I ever visited. Generally these Minas barroque cities are worth to see as Mariana, Congonhas (well unfortunatly most of that town is modern nowadays) and Tiradentes. And not to forget Parati in Rio.

Dutch,
Brazil has many nice cities like Ouro PReto. In Minas GErais there are Diamantina and Tiradentes and Mariana ( in Mariana there is the unique organ Arp Schnitger that is not in Europe and from it there are still concerts for tourists).
In Rio de Janeiro state there is Petropolis that is the Imperial city where Emperor and his family had Summer Palace, Crystal Palace , etc and many europeans don´t know that south Brazil has many cities that are little pieces of GErmany , Italy and Holland.
Take a look in it. Use arrows to see next pages:
