Well, Its no surprise that some areas in Baltimore are pretty rough. Of course not the whole city is like this, if you've ever seen my other Baltimore threads, but here's the not so pretty Side. Its really sad, the city has TONS of potential that it just isn't living up to. Most of These areas used to be beautiful thriving places that just, well fell. Don't get me wrong, I love this city, but some parts can get miserable. This is what gives Baltimore it's bad Reputation...

It reminds me of The Wire. But youre completely right.

They have lots of potential. Imagine those houses with new paint on them, different colours, trees...and that would be a wonderful city.

Thanks for your pictures.

Wow. Not quite the Baltimore you picture in Hairspray ;-)

Anyway, I'm shocked to see how many whole neighborhoods are completely boarded up. Urban rowhouse neighborhoods are so rare anymore here in the U.S. and are such an amazing example of American urban culture, it's sad to see some of it in decay in Baltimore.

Yes,

Those pictures do show one of the downside's of B'more. However, many if not all of those pics are in the East Baltimore area where major renovation and rebuilding is taking place due to Johns Hopkins University expanding.

Hed_Kandi every city has its rough parts, whether its crime, boarded up houses, poverty etc.. So please before you make negative comments like that make sure you know about the city, whats going on in the city and what improvements the city is making. Visit Baltimore and you'll see what I'm talking about. Baltimore is not what it used to be 5-10 yrs ago.

Well... I saw what was written before you edit... maybe a few seconds before it... I don't know if you did it cause you were afraid to be punished or cause you thought that what you said wasn't necessary. Anyway, I'll not bring it up. So... I guess you didn't understand me. Anytime I imagined that Baltimore has nothing good... If I asked you to show me the best part of the city, make sure that I really believed Baltimore was more than what you showed.:)
And tell me... what do you want a guy that never heard about this city think seeing those pics? I couldn't say anything more because I didn't know what Baltimore really is.
I hope you understand me now...

hugs.

I edited it because i realized i sounded stupid and babyish, and rude too! When you write the whole "xD" That's just really cocky and seems very in your face, like you're saying the city sucks. I clearly wrote, this is the bad side of the city, it's not the whole city at all. When you wrote what you did, it seemed that you completely ignored that. What i want a guy who's never heard of the city to think this is a bad part. and if he had read the top part, he would think exactly that, that it is only a part of the city. I understand you now, you're coment just came off a bit...cocky, like i said, like a "mine is better than your's" almost. I don't know, but i understand you

*handshakes, sorry :)

Good about Baltimore: Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Little Italy, Mt. Vernon, Federal Hill, John Waters, blue crab, the Bromo-Seltzer Clock, Camden Yards, Johns Hopkins U., Edgar Allen Poe, Star Spangled Banner, the Aquarium, colonial history and architecture, row houses, The Wire, The Corny Collins Show...

Baltimore is one of my favorite cities. I spent a lot of time there in the past, but of the items I came up with are well-known Baltimore things.

so why are those buildings abandoned???...they look good to me..just need sum paint or sumthing
I am guessing that urban sprawl is responsible of that.Everyone prefers to live in his own house with a garden, outside the city rather than in a small flat. Hopefully gas prices will make people think twice before they move to suburbs.

The automobile is to blame for all of this.
