Affordable Housing for Graduates

Rentals in older buildings aren't that bad right now even in South Beach. Purchase prices are pretty steep just about anywhere you would actually want to live but they can still be found at relatively affordable levels in West Brickell or in one of those ~400sqft studios in the middle section of South Beach (just south of Flamingo Park).

Seriously...when you are 16 EVERYTHING is expensive!!!! (except pizza slices).
That you are thinking about this now is very impressive! Great job!
I think that no brainer move for affordability and for your life's education is to live in the campus dormitory. Period.
You can wrap it into a student loan if affordability is an issue, you can settle into your campus envronment and meet some interesting people. Of course, you will meet some real jackasses too, but that is good thing to have exposure to when you are 18. Meet both types of people and learn the difference and how to deal with them both!
After a couple of years, you will figure out what off campus neigborhood and commute time works for you.
