ALKHOR - AlBayt Stadium (60,000)

Aspire Zone Foundation revealed three unprecedented sporting projects in the Gulf Region and the world. The new generation projects inject state of the art technology into the magnificent Qatari culture and traditions through a football stadium and a cameldrome for camel racing.
The sporting venues add more gems to Qatar’s sports stadia, arenas and inspirational icons, such as international standard football fields like Jasim bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club and Khalifa International Stadium at Aspire Zone, as well as Losail Racing Circuit for car and motorcycle races, and on top of all ASPIRE, the international signature sport and education academy.
The world expects to see unique features and marvelous landmarks in Qatar in all fields, especially when it’s related to sports settings - only to make Qatar a favorite destination for international sporting tournaments.
Qatar aims at boasting its sports glory with the bid for 2022 FIFA World Cup. To support this national dream, ASPIRE ZONE decided to showcase the nation’s ability to maintain its caliber through building an international standard football stadium. The architectural form of the stadium represents a shelter from the region’s harsh weather conditions, in addition to its magnificent illumination of Qatar’s ancient heritage and artistic aspects.
The name of the spectacular stadium has been taken from Qatar’s traditional terminology. It’s called ALBAYT Stadium, meaning a tent that is made from animal hair. Tents are usually woven from goats’ black hair with occasional additions of other colorful threads, which gives the tent a streaked appearance. The external framework of the playground reminds us of this safe haven, where Bedouins have lived in for generations.
The cameldrome, located in Al Shahania Municipality, will be the first of its kind in the world. It promotes Qatari nationals’ sincere appreciation to their inheritance and clutch to historic legacy, which is adjusted to fit in modern modules.
The architectural concept of the cameldrome in Al Shahania reminisces a time where the country was home to many racing challenges. The structure sets a unique facility in the world with features that have never been used before for this noble traditional sport.
The venue is unique in its form and operations. This concept relies on the movement system that takes spectators around the track in a safe and comfortable manner. Spectators really do not have a chance to participate nor to view the whole race, unless they are in the many Land Cruisers that charge around the track, with the consequent danger this implies on environment.
The amenity is conceived in the form of a seated camel with various functional elements arranged according to the contours of the animal. The grandstand simulates the surroundings with a touch of profound Qatari pride and artistic credit.
Aspire Zone Foundation expressed their hope that other concerned parties will adopt these projects to make them reality.
The new generation benchmarks utilize advanced technology to create the most modern venues of comfort and safety within contemporary architectural buildings, in harmony with the real values of the long standing traditions in Qatar - a feature of the majority of Qatar’s buildings.
