Albanian Road Transport Policy:

Goal
Creation of a common integrated infrastructure network

Aims
To bring markets closer
To avoid the creation of overcrowded areas
To distribute the traffic flow optimally, which reduces the number of traffic accidents and pollution.

Albania and Regional Road Network:




In 2005 the total number of the motorized vehicles was 290.000 making up a motorization index of 9%.

Procedurat e Tenderimit për Korridorin Durrës – Kukës – Morinë
Hapen Ofertat e Tenderit per Segmentin Kalimash – Morinë, në datë 12 Qershor

Qeveria Shqiptare ka përcaktuar Korridorin Durrës – Kukës – Morinë si prioritet kryesor të zhvillimit të infrastrukturës rrugore. Zhvillimi i këtij Korridori është i lidhur ngushtë me zhvillimin ekonomik dhe shoqeror të vendit, integrimin e transporteve dhe krijimin e një klime bashkëpunimi dhe stabiliteti në Rajon.

Në përputhje më Programin e Qeverisë, Ministria e Punëve Publike, Transportit dhe Telekomunikacionit ka përgatitur paketat tenderuese për segmentin Kalimash - Morinë, i cili është i ndarë në 8 lote.

Tenderi është shapllur për 7 nga këto lote dhe me datë 12 Qershor do të hapen ofertat dhe do të përcaktohen fituesit e këtyre tenderave. Punimet në këtë segment pritet të fillojnë në muajt Qershor, Korrik dhe Gusht të këtij viti.

Kontratat do të lidhen për një kohëzgjatje prej 18 muajsh nga data e fillimit të punimeve. Gjatësia e kësaj pjese të Korridorit është 30km.

Loti i 8-të, projekti teknik i të cilit do të jetë gati në fund të Qershorit do të tenderohet në vazhdim.

Janë në përfundim negociatat me Bankën Botërore për tenderimin e Segmentit Milot – Rrëshen, me një gjatësi prej 26 km, i cili do të ndahet në tre lote.

Njoftimi i Përgjithshëm i Prokurimit është publikuar nga Banka Botërore para dy muajsh dhe pritet që brenda Qershorit të hapet tenderi për lotin e parë dhe brenda Korrikut edhe për dy lotet e tjera.

Puna në këtë segment pritet të fillojë në muajt Gusht, Shator dhe Tetor te ketij viti dhe te përfundojë 18 muaj pas fillimit.

Njëkohësisht ka përfunduar procedura e parakualifikimit dhe është hapur tenderi për projektin teknik të segmentit të mesit, Rrëshen – Kalimash, me gjatësi prej afro 55km, ku përfshihen vepra të mëdha arti, tunele dhe viadukte.

Projekti teknik, i ndarë në tre pjesë, pritet të përfundojë në muajin Dhjetor 2006 dhe Mars dhe Prill 2007. Menjëherë pas përfundimit të projektit teknik për këtë segment do të bëhen edhe tenderimet përkatëse për ndërtimin dhe supervizimin e tij.

Qeveria dhe Ministria e Punëve Publike, Transportit dhe Telekomunikacionit janë të angazhuara në negociata intensive për financimin për këtë segment, vlera e të cilit llogaritet nga 200 deri në 250 milionë dollarë.

I was there and i actualy see it for myself the progress on this motorway and it seemed pretty good.I tok a lot of pics (posted them on Albasoul forum,some of them made it even here :) ) I left Albania December last year and people were saying the job that has been done the last 4 moths (Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov) is equivalent to what has been done since it started.From Milot to Rreshen it runs over the old railway that has now been destroyed.It has been said that from Rreshen and the rest of it a German frim will tak over.I will be there (since i am from Mirdita) by the end of July and i will get updates and lots of pics.

I'm looking forward to the new, shorter and streight Tirana - Elbasan road. I hate Qafa e Krrabes.

Qafa e Krrabes is scary but boy, I doubt you have many roads in the world that can match the scenery. That I shall miss.

Qafa e Krrabes gives me the creeps each time I ride that. The furgon drivers just drive too fast and it seems like they are going to jump into the abyss. :runaway:
And I am afraid of heights. :(

I always feel better when when we start descending to Elbasan or Tirana. lol

lol Explanation?
I was going downhill towards Tirana...it was in the middle of winter with a lot of ice on the road. On a corner the car slips and can't take the corner. I got the brakes floored and the car is sliding towards a VERY long drop...there's nothing beyound the road and the cliff...so I thought that was it. Fortunately there had been a snowplow that had gone through there earlier and there was a small pile of snow right at the edge of the road and the drop. I didn't think it was going to stop the car since it was very small...but it was also frozen solid...so the pile of snow stopped the car from falling right off the clif.

Did you think of getting out of the car and letting the car go? Or was there no time?

Qafa e Kerrabes may be very dangerous road but you get a spectacular view!I never drove myself on that road,always been a passenger!I love heights but whenever traveling on that road i would be holding my breath.(Even though i have seen worse)

Yeah I can never drive on Qafa Krrabes myself. When I drive with my cousin though he is crazy but he does Tirana - Pogradec at least once a week. Anyways last summer my cousin was in Greece and I had to go to Pogradec and I had to take a furgon. So I find this driver from Korca...I get in the car it already smells like Raki...Anyways the trip begins...as soon as we go up Sauk the guy stops, goes to the store and buys 5 BIRRA TIRANAS those big ones...So im like ok w.e he will drink them later or smth...The guy opens the five beers gives it to all of us...He starts the drive in one hand holding the Beer and drinking and on the other driving the car....Going so fast in that road that is made for 1 car....I cant count the number of times we almost hit another car...He was passing cars in hard turns while holding the beer out of the window and drinking at the same time..So he finishes the beer and what do I see next. He takes out the bottle of Raki and starts drinking like its water. Everyone in the van was scared man. The car was flying. As soon as I reached Elbasan I got off and found a decend guy...No way I was gonna go through Qafe Thana with that drunk :)...And I did not even drink my Birra Tirana....

And abandone the other 4 people in the car...without a driver...good idea! lol

No at that point you just freeze and can't do anything.

This is Qafa e Krrabes from the Elbasani side...the nice side...lined with 500 year old olive trees

I guess you have not taken a bus to Prishtina then. It is an experience you never forget! Thank god the new highway is being built!

skender,thats pretty fucking wrong road to drink and drive,lol.Leave alone driving with one hand only!Good job you managed to escape though :runaway:
