I've driven the Salt Lake City to Albuquerque route and it's pretty rough country in southeast Utah. The fastest route was almost all two lane roads once you got about an hour outside of SLC until you hit I-40 at Gallup, or came through Farmington where HWY 550 is four lanes down to Rio Rancho and I-25.

Same thing between Phoenix and I-25. West-central NM and east-central AZ are all mountains.

That would be nice , but a very expensive undertaking due to the Mountainous terrain. I don't think there would be a high enough usage rate to justify that.. Investing in Rail would be a better idea.

Let's get some better interstate connections to cities in neighboring states!

My proposal would also provide a nice link from Houston to Seattle.
I love these. I always thought that if you extended I-30 from Dallas all the way accross to Phoenix would be a good route. I also like the Salt Lake extension, maybe have it go through Midland/Odessa down to Del Rio or Laredo at the border.
