Olá!

Sorry, but my Portuguese is almost non-existant, so I'll write in English ;)

I'll show some of the finest castles and palaces of Germany in this thread, and there are lots of really fine castles here.
I return a favor for Farrapo, if anyone feels like contributing here, just do it!

Esse castelo é coisa de sonho mesmo. A Alemanha, na minha modesta opinião, é o país mais interessante da Europa. E se Deus quiser estarei lá no final de 2010.

Obrigado for your comments, people :)

Let's continue with another unique fairy tale castle.
It's not far from where I live, in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Mecklemburgo-Pomerânia Ocidental.

It was initially built as the main residence for the grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
It's used as the state parliament of my home state in Northern Germany now.

The gardens are prepared for the BUGA 2009 (German Federal Horticultural Show), a huge garden event that is held every 2 years
somewhere in Germany :) The Schwerin Castle just finished its exterior renovation works for that event.

Magnificent castles! The Neuschwanstein is the sleeping beauty castle isn't it? It's location makes it even more beautiful.

PS: @erbse - A hint for you: in Portuguese the adjectives appear before the nouns and they have plural. So the title of the thread would be "Castelos e palácios alemães".

Valeu :).

Wow! Germany is so beautiful... Very nice pics!
Those castles are really impressive

PS: It would be better if the title in Portuguse was "Castelos e Palácios da Alemanha".

Ja, it was the model for Disney's castle. Somewhat funny, actually being a pleasure castle itself ;)

Thanks for the advice, mate. Maybe someone could change the title then? :)

Castle Eltz

Anyway, let's continue with an older castle. This one is actually medieval and its location as well as
the fortifications made it pretty safe against aggressors back then.
