The Alice has been getting alot of bad press lately. (Did anyone watch ACA this week)?
The tourists are being driven away by drunken youths that take over the CBD at night. Not a good situation.:bash:
Alot of aborginals are coming in from the bush and staying because they can access to alcohol. Real shame. kids as young as 6 roaming streets drunk etc.
Now vigilante groups are patrolling streets ,they have had enough of damaged property bashings etc. what can be done?
police are laughed at and no gov wants to know about it.such a tradgedy for such an iconic township.

some piccies

I thought Wave Rock was in WA?
^ LOL. I have the same question.

I know, let's rename this thread to 'let's point out the problems of the red centre whilst skirting on the border of racism while we're at it'...
^yes the damn thread is about Alice springs and its problems! i asked if anyone watched ACA through the week dickhead!!
the aboriginals seem to have a problem with adjusting to the city life and locals are trying to work out solution.
post something meaningful for once tays! for fucks sake.
you seem to jump at any chance to post negative comments.
.who gives a **** about Wave Rock.so its in wa.
Wave Rock is in WA about 3 hours from Perth.
well it was listed under "alice springs" in flickr. go figure?
ill remove the friggen photo if it makes everyone happy.
what about the other photos. comments? contributions????
fUcks sake!
took me an hour to put this thread together and all some people can do is say oh bit racist/ oh wave rock is in WA.
tragic
I'm puzzled by your choice of also putting pics of Uluru, King's Canyon and Cars in trees though Cul.
just grabbing photos under "Alice Spings" from flickr.
you know, bit of variety. no need to be puzzled. its simple.
Its the idea of a thread to post dif photos of a subject.not just boring photos of street scenes etc.
its called random!

The drunkin aborigine problem has been around for a long time. I remember 12 years ago they where cruising the streets in utes plucking the aborinines from the streets.

Btw. Sorry Cul, but thats fuckin funny you posting a pic of Wave Rock in a thread about Alice Springs, being an aussie and all.

About 410km to the north.
Ayers Rock is about 450km to the south west.
that will teach people on flickr to lump all the holiday photos under alice springs tag.
kiwikass-well i knew wave rock was out in woop woop.
400km here -there is actually neighbours in the outback.not far at all.
lol calm down cul.

LOL city life in Alice Springs, Adelaide must be a massive metropolis then

I was born in Alice Springs, while I cant really remember the place. According to my mum those problems have been around for ever, its just intensified in the last few years.

The ones mostly blamed for this, is the half-cast aboriginals. They don't know if there white or black - the town is full of them - but there is exemptions.
^born there? great.
yeah i concur, the ACA this week were saying the major problem is aboriginies that arent from Alice who turn up and stay because there is easy access to alcohol. cause trouble etc.
2 police turn up to 200 rioters. what do you do then? nothing.
There were dome highrises planned awhile back. What became of them?

Tays- it was an honest error of judgement, no need for that mate.
I am not trying to make assumptions on a subject I am no expert in, but as an American who is perhaps about to become an Australian-American in the future, I would like to say that the way some of you spoke of Aboriginal Australians in this thread would be considered shockingly racist over here. We have loads of our own problems, but I almost spit out my soda when I saw the phrase "The ones mostly blamed for this, is the half-cast aboriginals". The use of the word caste is in very poor taste in my opinion.

I'm aware of the statistics concerning poverty, violent crime, and alcoholism as it relates to Aboriginal Australians. But their problem is all of Australia's problem. When you see anti-social behaviour and crime running rampant, never forget that the cause, effect and solution is irrevocably related to all Australians, of all races.

Nah, not if you can put your head in the sand and ignore it. It's not my problem unless it increases intrest rates. ;)

Also ACA and TT should be ignored by all and anything they say discounted completely.

Nice to see a bit of the Alice - what an oasis. Shame about the catfight. :eek:hno:
