That's a good question, it is basically a greenfield project. It's not a green field of course but a boring commercial district with offices and a couple hotels. These towers are the start of a new residential neighborhood in this part of Zuidoost. This development does really depend on the strong housing market of Amsterdam as a whole. As Zuidoost has always been known for it's low-end residential apartments, the current residential part of this neighborhood was created as a uber modernist utopia with many long apartments buildings. Many of those have already been demolished and replaced by typical Dutch of low rise suburban type houses. Still very different from these 2 apartment towers.
But it is right next door to the Amsterdam ArenA, which is surrounded by a mega cinema complex and 2 large concert venues. It is located close to one of the biggest train stations in Amsterdam. It has great connection by metro, train, bus and car to other parts of Amsterdam and other cities in the Netherlands. It has several good direct connections to Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. All in all it's a good location for a new residential neighborhood. But we have to wait and see how it will turn out.
That also depends on the other upcoming projects. One of the biggest will be located between these 2 towers and the Amsterdam ArenA. It's called Urban Interactive District and will house a theater, another concert venue + offices and another 600 apartments. It's currently in the design stages, but it does look it will include another 100m tall tower.
See the Dutch thread for more info (in Dutch of course)

These are the early images that have come out. Very colorful, but I expect it will turn out a bit more standard.
And there's tons of space in this neighborhood for many towers more, especially in the office district right behind it which has a lot of small office buildings surrounded by large parking spaces. So much space that it should easily be possible to create a completely new neighborhood with over 10.000 new houses without having to net reduce the total office space. It could become a very interesting mixed-use area.
Time will tell how it will turn out.
