Konark Sun Temple
Konark, Odisha
This temple is an example of Kalinga architecture,
which is to be found in eastern India.
The whole building has been built in the form
of a giant ornamented chariot and has twelve
pairs of elaborately carved stone wheels
which are pulled by a set of seven horses.
The temple is dedicated to the sun god Surya,
and is believed to have been built by Narasimhadeva I
of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty, and was finished in 1255.
It is also known for its erotic sculptures.
