Land transport in Antarctica is usually by foot (skis, snowshoes) or vehicles (tracked vehicles like snow mobiles and bulldozers and in the past dog sleds).

Hey, there's the McMurdo-South Pole Highway. Would this be the Route 1 in question?

And just in case you're thinking about driving home...

Don't forget the snow chains. Or (as Jeremy Clarkson and James May did, driving to the North Pole) the gin & tonic.

The things you learn on SSC. I never knew Antarctica even had a road.
Now you know that they have an ice road.

Not only that, but even there you've got be on the look out for things...like red necks in pick up trucks.

What's so ******* about the Ford? The tracks are actually commercially available and are mounted the same way a regular tyre is.
