There is always a future for everyone, no matter where you are. Just bleak or bright.
I tried applying to URA some time ago... I guess they won't take foreigners :)
Just to let you know that an architect working for URA will have quite a different scope of works to that of a practising architect.
stupid scholarship, biased against poly students...lol.
ya damn! JC.. still need leadership qualities which obviously I don't =X.
Such qualities can be nurtured, and it is not only the JC people who have such qualities, it really boils down to if you want to be a leader or not.

Haha.....such strong feelings......

I have to agree that policy like this that prevent people from thinking out of the box......which is increasingly important now.....
Stupid scholarship, only for JC students.

Does it means poly people doesn't have abilities? Promoting talent? More like smothering poly talents.
People... wake up..... have you seen a president scholar from poly?? You just have to take other means.
I don't see anything wrong with the scholarship requirements.

Maybe, correct me if I am wrong. :D

I have the impression that polytechnic students are more incline towards "hands-on" projects while JC students are more incline towards "paperwork" projects.

From what I see, URA does not need "hands-on" people who can design great buildings as this is not their core business. What they need is probably good people who can see a bigger picture, have a clear state of mind to know where and how to get and sort out good ideas as well as presenting them on paper clearly for approval.

Somehow I feel poly students do not get scholarships.
And most, if not all scholarships are by paper qualifications, not talents.

2 areas that must be changed to make education fair.

huh?

You meant the scholarship requirements are not fair NOT education system is not fair, right?

That's the problem with them..... no hands on experience. Imagine a geography grad who knows nothing about reading architectural plans but he/she is the one approving your drawings. Scary isn't it?

to be frank, this is nothing new......it's happening in most govt sectors where scholars are on accelerated track.....which means they can be principal of a school when they are in their 30s for example(which could mean that their teaching experience is rather limited).......and they are the one grading the poor teachers who are working like mad.......

Correct me if I am wrong.

I believe a plan is usually seen and approved by different groups of people from different government agencies.

Will faint if the entire plain is only seen and approved by someone who has no practical experience.

AFAIK .... the junior approving officer will be ofcoz approving your drawing but under the manager eyes for sure.. and they will be sent out for hands-on training in the industry for 1 year inimum to gain the experience... ^^
