They are very difficult to fold. So, I want to introduce you some simple types which are rather nice and you can easily fold them.
Now, taking a square paper, if your paper is unhydrophilic, that's very good.

Why do you need an unhydrophilic paper? I think you can take your lotus into glass basin with full water or ornamental fish tank.
