Has anyone gotten a chance to read this article:

What do you guys think? It's not totally clear to me what the municipality is doing to mitigate this. Can they take any action? Are we doomed to see a Jerusalem devoid of beautiful buildings? Should we all just rush over there and lay in front of bulldozers operating in the Rehavia neighborhood to make sure that builidings are protected/no horribly tacky pentouses are added on :bash: :bash: :bash: ???? Am I completely overreacting here? I need answers people  !

^^ why you gotta pick fights with new members....sheesh...

For your question...
its rather hard.....
Jerusalem has alot of old buildings that just cannot be maintained properly against an earthquake.

East Jerusalem is going to be a ground zero for sure....

Kappa, thanks for responding, although I didn't totally understand your answer....do you mean that it's difficult to make changes to those buildings or to prevent developers from adding floors/demolishing them? Sorry to be such a nuisance :eek:hno::bash:...
Kappa I dont pick fights with any new members thats your expertise
I think its very legitimate to ask that we keep it organized and not open threads for every question

Well, im saying that the buildings are old. Alot of them were built before '67 and even '48. You either demolish them or just try to fix them as best as possible. Its a no turning back approach really....... its not something that you think of.....

if you told the jerusalem municiaplity to make a buffer against tsunamis, i think they would have bought that over an earthquake!
