No, I'm not talking about income. I'm talking about population.

Roswell (pop. 98,137) and Sandy Springs (pop. 99,577) were, just in the year 2000, hovering around 85K people. However, as of 2005, these cities have grown immensely. I think this will be interesting as Atlanta is always criticized for having too many small suburbs compared to similarly-sized metros. What do y'all think?

While I question whether Roswell has inched that close to the 100,000 mark, I can say with almost complete certainty that they are not losing population. According to city-data.com, Roswell had a 2000 population of just over 79,000. The estimated population in 2005 was just under 86,000.

What's the land area of these incorporated places, compared... to... say a Hialeah (metro Miami), Portsmouth (Hampton Roads) or Arlington (Dallas)? Really, I don't think it will make a huge difference, if any, on how Atlanta is positively or negatively percieved.
man, i've been through Atlanta like last week for Six Flags, and its growing like crazy. on I-85 they're already adding more lanes to make it 10 lanes instead of 6.
I wouldn't be suprised if those number are true. Sandy Springs is the place to be.

Are you a time traveler from the past? ;)

Sandy Springs hasn't been called that since the 80's. It will likely recreate itself, as the 90's were really bad to the area (decline of Roswell Rd.).

My guess is larger, except for Arlington - which of course is roughly the population of Atlanta. I also would agree, it will mean absolutely nothing to the lay person & the professional that Atlanta will have suburbs with populations of over 100k.
No surprise that these are both located in Fulton Couty, where everyone wants the whole county municipalized. If every other county in the metro area were like this, Atlanta would probably have 6 or 7 above 100K already.
